I was given an ok 1903a3 parade rifle reciever and new bolt and I am making it into a 308 type scout rifle. I have been looking for a milled triggerguard/floor plate resonable priced and came across some "commercial 1903" guards. The floor plate seems to have an actual button to release the floor plate instead of using a bullet point. Will these work with a 03a3 receiver?

Also has anyone seen a way to do away with the mag cutoff/bolt retainer switch and make it more like a commercial mauser action that just retains the bolt.

Thanks
Jay

An 03 trigger guard will fit the 03A3 rifle.

There is no practical way to modify the cutoff lever to work like a mauser.

I'd be careful with that project. If there is a weld where the barrel was welded to the receiver you could have lost the heat treating in the barrel threads and locking lugs. Lots of drill rifles sold lately by the CMP, some converted back without issues so far, but it's almost like shooting a low numbered 1903 where the heat treating with modern ammo comes to issue. Just a heads up. No welds= good to go.

Might check with DuPage Trading here in Chandler Az. He told me he has lots of parts not on the web site. If he won't look for the parts I need to visit my sister down there anyway and could stop by and look.

The drill rifles have been converted back to firing for decades.

You also could try the CMP forum, they have a section for 1903/A3 parts wanted/needed.

Thank you gentlemen. CWHEEL I can assure you that the weld was very small, less than a 1/16" of an inch, just a spot weld
