Anyone using a Leupold 1-4X hog rifle scope? I'm thinking of one for an AR I built for Coyote calling. I'm looking at 200 yd shots, max. >$250.00 is my budget for this scope.

I have a couple of the 1 by 4's but not with the "hog" reticle. Mine have the heavy duplex. They are good scopes for fairly close in work. I have found that I prefer the magnification of the 2 x 7 and the standard duplex reticle for a little more precise work. I just bought a VX-1 2 x 7 from Cabelas for $209? I think.
Good Luck with your decision,
Rick

I have more VX-1's in 2x7x33 than I probably should, but I really like them now that I have outgrown my iron sight eyes. Over three inches of relief and easy roll on magnification. 2x walking out and 7x parked. Sitting on 30-30's, 45-70's, 444, 450M, 458 Win. MSRP 209 about everywhere. Gtek

This is kind of interesting, because at present, I have a Leupold 2-7X mounted on it for load development. I borrowed it off of my BLR in 358 Win. I guess I could buy another and mount it back on the 358.
thanks

For what it's worth I have a 2x7 that lives on an AR-10 - I can't see how you can go wrong with another one since you know works.

I can't say anything about the 1x4, as I have never owned on.
I can say that the Leupold 2x7x33 is a fine scope. I have one mounted on my Mosin/Nagant M44 carbine. It is a very fine piece of equipment. I would buy another one in a heart beat.
Just sayin.
