I was wondering if anybody powder coats HP boolits. I assume PC will not hurt expansion. My question is, if I use a universal hp tool, like Forster, would it be advantageous to hollow point said boolit before coating, or after. Or maybe a toss up either way.

There were shot into a dirt berm- hardly a good environment to test expansion. The fact they expanded as well as they did is a testament to the design and shows- to me at least- that PC doesn't affect expansion. Second from the left struck a rock. Weight is 230 gr and velocity was around 875.

Additionally, if for some reason you believed PC did hinder expansion, you can water drop your HP boolits, and then coat shortly after- some water will likely still be in the HP and it will keep powder from sticking to that area.

If you hollow point before powder coating it is easy to make a jig so your boolit rests nose down on a machine screw and you bases are coated too.

A good friend of mine did some to see how they would come out. Check out his work! I'll see lots of casting this week, I'm sure.
