So, I got this old mold....
An RCBS 30-180-SP. Wouldn't work for me. To fit, I woulda had to seat deeper than like. I don't like putting gas checks below the neck. I've never had any luck when I've tried so my rule is to just not do it. So? What to do?
I stripped the mold down, put it in my drill press and swept an indicator across it. It was in there square, so I took the belt off the drive. Using a press fit 5/16 reamer (.3115) I turned the spindle by hand and GENTLY removed the gas check shank.
A cast, you can just barely see line, but they fall from the mold .312-.3125 and when sized back look perfect. Lubed with Bens Red they weigh 185g now.

Tried them out this morning over 8.0g of Unique in my .308, seated to lightly engrave. 20 shots at 25 yards could be covered with a sliver dollar.

Kind of excited to start working this one up. Going to start scooting up till I reach 12g or so. See where accuracy goes.

Ben's right, these stupid plain base boolits won't shoot fer nuthin'!:kidding:

IN THE 30-06 Try :

8.3 grs. of International clays, or 8.5 grs. of American Select.
8.5 grs. of Alliant Unique is a good load also.

I size .311" for many of my .30 cal. rifles when using my plain base bullets. They will shoot.

Here is the plain base 311331 sized .311" and lubed with Ben's Red and rolled in 45 - 45- 10 , IT IS A SHOOTER ! ! By the way, this 331' is from a 5 cavity NOE mold, I removed the g/c shank from one of the 5 cavities. WORKS ! ! !
