First Cast Kill [Archive]

Got my first cast kill today. Boolit was an Accurate 31-165R from 50/50 COWW/PL. Shot was about 80 yards in the shoulder, the deer was DRT. I have a 20" MGM 30-30 barrel on a Encore Prohunter frame. Now to get one with the 44 mag.

I'm using 25 gr of 3031, a Win primer and putting them together with RCBS Cowboy dies. I'm working a load also for 45 Colt with a NOE 454424 255 gr, but haven't got the chance to shoot any of them yet.

The 44 mag is a Ruger SBH 7.5" barrel. I'm shooting a 255 gr boolit over 19grs of 2400,it is cast 50/50 COWW/PL with a Win primer. I've been a reloader for over 20 years but never messed with cast any until my son got me into it, now I'm hooked.

I love the 45 Colt/45 ACP Ruger, we have shot the ACP cylinder a lot and it's very accurate. Just got set up loading the 45 Colt, I have some 255 gr boolits from an NOE 454424 mold casted to try in them. Good luck on your hunt Lefty!
