Impulse Buy-Lyman 358498 Wad cutter

Found two used Lyman 358498 Wad cutter 150 gn. molds gathering dust at a LGS. One looked a little abused so I purchased the cleanone. I've never really had a desire to own a wad cutter mold as I have been pleased with 158 SWC for most of my 38 Spl/357 Mag shooting. It appears this is a discontinued mold as I do not find it listed. It is a flat based mold.

Wadcutters do good until they start slowing down then they`ll start keyholin, of course this`ll vary with gun & load.

I push em purty good 1K fps & they`ll ring my 100yd gong (14") IF I do my part !
I also have the liter version it seems to fall off qwiker than the heavier .

Oh yeah , I only lube the 2 bottom grooves , seems if I lube all three accuracy falters a bit (less hits)

How about a 358495? The 498 cherry was for a 90 grain something (maybe 6mm).

The 358495 is a real winner as .38 wadcutters go. If I only had to have one .38 mould, it would be a 358495. Great for target, small game/varmints and plinking./beagle

Also good for self-defense - stout load of Unique, and it will cut a full-diameter hole when it goes in... I have a 4-banger -495, plus a 2-banger Erik HP'd. It is the second (maybe first) choice for 38 WC's, after the H&G 50.
