When I sportered my 91/30 M/N I bought the Prarrie Hunter stock from Boyd`s. I just got an E-Mail from Boyd`s that they are having a sale on this same stock for $54 plus shipping. I believe I spent close to $90+ for my stock last year.Robert

I've tried one of my barreled receivers and it doesn't fit so great...rocks side to side. I can live if it needed shims front or back, but this is new for me. Anyone else using bedding compound?

The barrel trimmed to 17 inches. Mine are T53s so I had to open up where the rear sight is.

Go to Walmart and get the fiberglass gel Bondo. It's in the automotive section. It sticks where you put it and don't run like Acuragalss. Works great. I use it all the time on my rifles. A gunsmith gave me that tip. Be sure that what you buy has the fiberglass in it too, not just the resin.

Those stocks look to have a pretty wide forend, is that right?

What kind of scope mount is that? Looks to fit in place of the rear sight, is that right?

I have an old (Remington manufactured) Mosin someone sporterized, but it needs a new stock and I'd like to scope it without drilling holes in it.

Yes the forend is a little wider. The scope is a Ncstar 2.5 pistol scope. If your Remington is a 91/30 the entire rear sight will come off leaving you an 11 mm dovetail to attach a 22 mount to. The T53 and M44 need a mount that goes on the existing sight base.
This is for the T53 or M44

I dug this old rifle out this weekend and have been looking at it. It's one Dad had lying around as a junk/parts rifle years and years before the Mosins started flooding the market. When I got a couple of them and started playing with them, I grabbed this one from him and then it promptly got back burnered.

The bore and trigger pull on this one are excellent. Whoever sporterized it, probably in the '20s, just whittled down the military stock and there's no way I'm gonna shoot any kind of powerful loads though it the way it is, so I think I'll get one of these stocks and maybe a long eye relief scope soon and see what she'll do. It probably hasn't been fired in 70 years.

I guess I don't know why not. You mean like for a 1 inch barrel? Or bigger?

yea, in the area of a 1" barrel or less.

i am going to build some bolt action .500 S&W mosins, and i have been trying to decide what to do for a stock.
$54 a stock is a pretty good deal.

I don't know if this pic will help or not. It's not very good. But you can see how wide the forearm is. The two flats you see on each side of the barrel are about 1 inch outside to outside. Hope it helps.

okay, thank you.
should do fine for my use, as my barrel diameter will be less than one inch.
