My friend John shoots a traditional rifle and a Remington 700 ML. This year he wanted to use his Remington. He drew a ML antelope tag. He sent me these pictures a little while ago. He was using my 460 gr paper patched 500 S&W bullets. The buck never knew what hit him. Ron

Yes they are legal. The Remington has an exposed nipple and cap. The Paper patched bullet is made with pure lead and paper patched. Ron
I never hunted antelope before. But I travel from Okla to AZ from time to time.During that
trip I alway look for antelope off the high way.I aways wondered how you guys ever
get close enough for a shot on that flat land????

nice job, but I am concerned that he is a bit undergunned with only a 460gr 500cal PP conical when going up against the infamous PrairieGoat

Some times we sit on water holes or use decoys. Ron

We also worry about the possibility of a wounded one going nuts on us. So try to increase the odds of surviving the encounter with Horse power loads. :kidding:

if the antelope are in rut it is the does that you cant get close to. the two nice bucks ive taken were more worried about stealing a doe that me as a hunter. both take at 125 yards. also antelope love decoys, one run over my friend hideing behind his decoy. the buck thought the decoy was another buck. thanks for the post ron.

Antelopes trust their eyes quiteva bit. So decoys and ground blinds are effective
Man I have to do that someday.NM seems to have quite a few I guess also.

Yeah, we have heaps of them here. Only problem is landowner tags sold to out of state hunters run into some serious money. And the state has been limiting the resident permits and issuing more landowner tags, makes actually getting to hunt one pretty difficult unless you know somebody who owns enough land to get some of those tags.
