Not sure there is a limit anywhere on the actual number of firearms you can own, excepting those areas of the US where guns are pretty much banned....

in Italy, weapons that the law says they are allowed to hunt, those you can have unlimited.I to be able to shoot with the glock 21, I had to put a gun in my collection, and now that you can not use ..in the collection, you can have them all, but you can not use, it's a stupid law.

In California there is no limit on the total number, but you can only purchase one new handgun every 30 days.

Where I live I think the limit is all you can afford, plus one.

it's nice to be able to have all the weapons in different calibers, I like very much melt the bullets and reload, for me is a wonderful hobby, but I have only a few guns to shoot.even dust can only have 5 kg, including those that live ammunition is inside.and cartridges for gun only 200 rounds, I do IPSC and I can have at home in 1500, and carry only 600 rounds

No limit, but I did get a call from the state police when I purchased a few handguns in what they deem to short of a time period. PA has an illegal handgun registration program where you have to fill out a separate form that goes to the state police. This was a concession when we went to shall issue and got rid of the three day waiting period.

As many as will fit in the safe. Then you buy another. Our state tried to pass a version of the "gun a month" law but it died before coming to a vote. We do have a ridiculous "list of approved handguns" that makes us work a little harder to get certain models.

I have four large gun safes, and they're all full. If I buy one more gun, I'll have to find room for another safe........ I've bought 4 new guns in the last month and a half, and I'm eyeing another one......

Hope this helps.

Fred

PS: What's funny is, most of the Cowboy guns are coming from Italy, along with the Berettas and Tanfoglios, to name just a few. It's like Japan, where they make lots of guns for export, but aren't allowed to sell any of them domestically.

Cali is a ****-*** commie stink hole. Come to Texas, our gov jogs with a gun and blows up critters!

Seriously, any govt that *limits* citizens having the means of protection will eventually take away ALL protection.

In Europe believe the Swiss enjoy the most freedoms, they can not however carry for personal protection. I own as many as I can afford to. In my younger single days before wife and kids I did have over 150 at once.

No limit in Ne, other than the limit on the wallet. South Africa is 5 one of which may be a handgun, or so I was told by a PH.

what I do not understand is, why can I only have 9 guns, but I have 10000000000000000 rifles for hunting?

IIRC, Germany limits their citizens depending on if they have a hunting/collectors weapons card.

If you live in a free state (Not NY, CA, NJ etc) you can buy whatever you can afford
If you live live in a free state you can own Machine guns, Silencers, and Destructive Devices like Cannons. Of course having enough money to buy them and their ammunition is the problem most of us have - costs lots of money for some of the cannon rounds.

beppe
11-09-2013, 02:28 PM
the cannons in Italy we hold only dream it, in 2014, the law requires that the magazine should be all of our guns with 15 rounds .... no more!only those who shoot in ipsc or other sport, as a professional, it can leave the magazine with more than 15 rounds, for two more years.

In Montana a few years back a gun organization took some polls. Not all houses had guns. In the households that guns were present 27 was the average number of guns in the home. Not owned by one person, per se but owned by the family in the home.

I have to wonder about that Montana survey. I wonder how many household owned guns that said they didn't on the survey?? I'm thinking I don't really want my state to be doing a survey like that, what good could come out of the outcome?

The trouble with this country, is we have fifty states with different laws, then cities with their own added laws. If a guy is traveling it is very possible to travel across half the country, then find your self facing a felony with just a left over 22 shell under the seat, while your 150 legal firearms are back at home. Most places are not bad, but anybody could become a felon real easy too.

I got a gun for my wife, it's broken, all rusted up and doesn't shoot but still, that was the best trade I ever made.

Now it's only the wallet that says how many. 87091 Oh well . . .

I used to be good at questions like this. When I was a kid I guessed closest to how many jelly beans were in a quart jar. Maximum number of guns to fit in an average house of say 1200 square feet...

They are doing their best to restrict us here as well. We were able to carry until Switzerland joined the Schengen treaty and had to modify gun legislation. Or rather were pushed to do so. That was in 1999 when a lot of things like suppressors and lasers, grenade launchers like M203s and night vision scopes became restricted and/or illegal (grandfathered though). Imagine all the goodies on the market just after the iron curtain came down. AKs with whatever accessories you can think of ;)
Anyway, nowadays, there is still no limit in the number of guns but you are only allowed to buy 3 at a time and you need to pay 50 Swissfrancs for each permit. Some (hunting) rifles, double barrel shotguns, you can buy as of legal age as well as K31s and some older swiss military rifles. Everything that is semi or pump or looks sniper-ish requires a permit. Oh yes, we still have our service rifles at home, if you want to keep them after your service, they will convert them to semi auto by milling the bolt carrier and modifying the trigger group. Outside, it still looks full auto ;)

So as long we manage to stay outside the european union i think we remain the country with one of or the most liberal country in terms of gun legislation.

That's plenty of unpredictability

That said, my teenage son's seem to be causing much more grief than our daughter did during her high school years.

Thanks for the Swiss update. I have been qualifying for Swiss medals for a few years,
really have enjoyed my K31s and the beautiful medals.

Sorry to hear that the Europukes are meddling in your affairs.

I always figured that the reason we have gun safes is so that the wife doesn't notice any new acquisitions to our firearm collection.

I have enough that when I see the reports on the news about the police arresting a gang or whatever and claiming that they found a "large arsenal" of weapons, I laugh and wonder what they would say about my collection. And I don't even really consider my collection all that large. My gun safe is about the size of a large side-by-side refrigerator and I'm starting to run out of room in there. I've actually had to start putting some of my handguns in gun rugs so that I could stack them on top of each other. :(

Not really sure how many I have though -- probably around 30-40, I guess. A couple I probably haven't shot in 45 years.

Probably enough around 60K of primers and 100 lbs of powder, so enough to last me for awhile.

My standard answer to how many guns do you have is "more than I need but less than I want"
I would honestly have to go and count them some where between 20 and 30, with registration here in Aus there is no need to count the government does it for you.
While we cant own a firearm for self defence, ownership of a semi automatic centrefire rifle is impossible for 99.999% of the population and handgun licences are only issued for target shooting we don't have a limit on the number of approved firearms we can own.

Considering I don't know how many guns I own, I'm not going to find them to count for the government.

Good answer. There's really not that many around here but counting them is a needless PITA. I'm pretty close to my personal limit but can't say for sure that it won't change. ;)

Here it is limited by the amount of weight the floor will support. I build my house as a concrete slab on grade.
