I'm thinking about picking up one of these molds. I have fired some of them that I traded for, but never mic'd them. I'm curious to where they are dropping and with what alloy. Let me know!!

I have an older tumble lube style that drops at .402 using COWW

I have 2 6-cavity molds that I use. They were purchased about 3 years apart and the sizes were different. The first dropped at .402 but the second was just under .401 but this was fixed by Leementing. Alloy is COWW+2% Tin. I do recommend the Lee molds but be prepared to tweak if needed.

Not sure this one is going to work for me. I was hoping for a .4025-.403 drop......without any modifications to the mold. Guess I'll have to save a bit and give Tom some more money.....

My conventional lube Lee drops @ 0.404" with a good mike and the same both sides of the seam.

I just have two unsized examples from my mould and a caliper on hand. Both exceed .403 diameter by a bit. But who's to say the one you get will. This is from a 6 cavity 175 tc with conventional lube groove.

I guess I can always buy one and hope for the best....then selling it if it doesn't drop at the size that I need it to. Thanks for the feedback guys.

I don't currently have any which is odd. IIRC, it was .403+.
.4024 thru the LEE push through sizer, and .402 through the Lyman sizer.

In my brand new 6 cavity they run from a small of .401.5 to .402.5 on the large. Smaller on the front band larger on the rear. Keep in mind, this is carefully measured with a caliper not a micrometer.

I bought a 2c 6-7 yr ago for an aquaintance that dropped ww at 403 but sold it as we parted ways. Last yr I bought a 6c for myself and w/ww it to drops just a little over 403. I tried 50/50 and ACWW both tumbled w/o leading WC fixed it. The XD took a max load of Unique to group .

I'm hoping for a 403. If not, somebody is going to get a great deal on a slightly used mold. Lol

I just bought one about 2 weeks ago.....my first with the new alignment system. Mine casts .401 using COWW, but what impressed me is that the boolits are within .001" of perfectly round. I've been using Lee moulds for over 35 years and own about 20 of them, and none cast as round as this one.

If your mould casts .401" and you need more, try adding some antimony. I've found that using 75% COWW and 25% linotype will increase the diameter about .001"

I also just bought a Lee .401 TC new design TL 2 cav. mold. It is casting at .402/.403 with range scrap water quenched. They are the most consistent projectiles I have ever cast out of a Lee mold in my 45 years of casting. Have been shooting them over a max load of unique as cast with great results.

I cast another 100 with COWW and 1% tin added. They mic. at .4025" and weigh 182 grains. Just like 454PB's mold they are all less than .001" of being round.

mine casted larger than most here. i think it was 405 or 406. did not chamber at all in an m&p40. most of the mold i have casted a fair bit over than whats on the box. closes is a 309 that cast to 310-311.

One month age on Lee .401 TC drops at .401 consistently

Midway currently has this mould on clearance, so I just ordered it. If it ends up dropping on the smaller end of the range, check the S&S section for even deeper savings........
