I have got the perfict way to mount a LER handgun scope. a little work is involved but will not change the rifle (no holes ) and can be converted back to org in just a few minutes tdoor4570@bresnan.net we will set up a phone call

The S&K mount for the m/1916 Spanish Mauser is actually one of their better mounts as its very low.

got my 1916 Spanish all apart next to me and to scope it without modification I think I'd replace the top handguard panel with a piece with a rail above were the rear sight comes through the original piece. Mine is still a 7mm mauser but was thinking just getting it drilled if I can be confident that stress cracks will not be an issue. Still have a ways to go b4 I'll fire mine tho.

just for load testing on my milsurps i used a spare rear sight (have a box full) grind off the notched part, turn it upside down reinsert the pin drill and tap the sight itself for a flat based marlin mount, for just a few test rounds you can tape the rear of the whole assy down. for long term or permanent use screw it down to the sight base using countersunk screws. with the lighter weight eer scopes or dot sights 2 or 3 screws has all that i ever needed
