First off, I am a real lube-noob.

I shoot a 45-70 Buffalo Classic and am experimenting with bullet weights, powders, and lubes. About a week ago I shot 15 rounds of Hunter Supply 300 gr boolits with their green lube in the groove. I didn't clean more than running a patch down the barrel to remove all powder residue. I didn't want to clean any more so that I could keep the barrel "fouled" for the next range trip.

Today I fired 5 rounds of home cast 405 gr boolits, sized to .459 and lubed with Alox/beeswax. The first 4 shots walked down the paper about 3 inches and the 5th shot was touching the 4th. This is at 100 yards. Am I seeing the effect of that green lube getting wiped out of the barrel and replaced by the Alox/beeswax?

Changing lubes often does that. Some lubes also like a fouled bore and throw a few from a clean bore.

This is pretty normal.
