Please look at the pictures of this Virginian Dragoon .44 Magnum manufactured in 1977 or 1978. It is in really good mechanical shape. Everything seems solid. Slight blue wearing from a holster.

What is the MAXIMUM amount that you would pay for this revolver?

Can't give a max guesstimate, but mine is stainless with a little shorter barrel, and I gave $400 for it without flinching. It's a beast of a gun! And I've wanted one since 1980 when I first saw one.

If you're thinking of buying it, I reckon it's up to YOU what the max is that YOU would pay for it. Or if you're selling it, what's the minimum YOU would take. Every deal is ultimately between the buyer and the seller.

What's the asking price on it? That makes your question easier.

He is asking $400. He seems very firm on the price.

I'd say that's a fair price, those are not crappy guns in my opinion. Comparing mine to my Uberti Cattleman is like comparing a Jeep to a Hummer.

It's a fair price and a very heavy duty revolver. Mine came out of the box with a beautiful trigger pull.

I gave $270 for my blued one 8 years ago. shoots copper pretty good but the cylinder throats are WAY oversized for lead. I've proved it too many times. Great guns, I got a not so good one for lead. I'll have to check my notes, but 0.439" throats with a 0.433" bore.

I like these better than the Ruger blackhawks.

LOL I gave 175.00 for mine with a box of shells thrown in new in 78. It was a built in 74 and had the same don't tread on me, on the grip frame. I gave it to my grandson (in care of my son) last christmas. It is like an old 3 screw, kep the hammer over an empty hole. I dropped mine in Dodge city Ks once and it did go off. There is no aftermarket grips for it except for some cheap looking plastic ones that I know of. I liked mine as well as any ruger I've owned except for the grip thing, which never bothered me when I was younger, but it got to where it would bust my knuckles. lol

Mine has a 6" barrel and I did a nickle plate on it to fill in some surface pits it developed after being submerged in salt water while being in my safe. I did make a white hard rubber oversize stock for it and that really brought it under control. I love mine and wish I had a pair. I'd pay the $400 and worry about the mortgage later.

I got this one for 185.00 way back in the day. I wouldn't sell it but if I did I would need close to 600 for it. Even at that I might not sell. Ron

I removed the rear sight and made a top strap insert sight with the stock material.

Had an 8in model years ago for carry, LOL. Loved it very accurate, rear sight blade came loose when shooting hot loads, as with many others, I miss it. 400.00?, OH YEAH!

Got a 8 3/8ths Stainless one in 44 mag this August, I paid 375 and almost felt guilty. It loves the Lyman 429244 and IMR 4227. It shoots great and I have to take a deer with it next Saturday. Buy the gun, if you need to eat you can always sell it.

Ron I can understand you not wanting to sell your gun. The only problem that I've ever had with these guns is not having enough cabinet space. I've been collecting these for years. About half of what you see pictured here are unshot. Pictured here are 5 inch, 6 inch, 7 1/2 inch, 8 3/8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch. (there is one Ruger in here that belongs to my son) Everyone of these that I have shot, shoots great. I have three more that just won't fit in the cabinet. I wouldn't part with a single one of them. They are90004 my sons when I'm gone.

Holy cow!!!!! That is an awesome collection.
I had another 44 just like the one above. I bought it and it was stolen, but about a year later I got it back. Meanwhile I got another one the one in the picture above. They were very close in ser numbers. I kept them both for a number of years and finally traded the one off. I kind of wish I would have kept it but I don't plan to sell this one any time soon.

mine is stainless 8 3/8 in barrel very accurate with cast, starmac it has a very good safety that allows for a full cylinder carry. put on half cock, depress the cylinder rod retainer pin, push the cylinder rod rearward and release the lock. the cylinder pin will protrude from the rear of the frame and the hammer cannot fall.
