Hi guys,
I have always wondered what my lead hardness was after having hit or miss success in casting bullets
sometimes they had great accuracy and sometimes they did not.
I splurged and bought the lee hardness test kit and today I tried it out.
I was suprised to find the hardness of some of my casts, keep in mind they are all wheel weights
air cooled wheel weights 8.1 BHN
water cooled wheel weights 20.2 BHN
Heat treated @450 for 1 hour wheel weights 32 BHN
I currently shoot 44 mag 40 sw 9mm and 309GC LEE
Does this mean that my 300 win mag boolits can be pushed to almost jacketed velocities as my lead hardness is almost there?
