New to me H&G 503!

Ok, I am clucking a little here. I have waited a long time for one of these molds and my wife surprised me with one today. She bought it on ebay. Of course I ran right out to the garage and poured me some boolits (intentionally misspelled) with it.

Now I am in a fix! I just bought some SR4756 so I could work on some 38 loads this weekend and she had to go and muddy the water a mite and give me this mold! :D

I guess I'll just have to do both.

My boolits are coming out @ 249 gr. so I would say my alloy is almost perfect. I am going to lube them with my homemade lube and let you know how they do.

If you have a favorite load, or want to share one of Elmer Keith's for this boolit, go ahead. I'm open to suggestions!

Welcome to the world of H&G 503.
The old Lyman manual lists 12 to 17 grains of 4756 for 1110 and 1418 fps respectively in 44 mag. ... 7 to 9.6 of 4756 in 44 special for 655 and 970 fps.
My personal fgavorite 503 load is 7- 7.5 of Red Dot for 1050 - 1100 fps fps in mag cases. Long live the 503 !!

Congrats on the 503. I have the Ballisti-Cast version of the same mold, although I have not yet cast with it. Your spelling is correct. "Boolits" are cast projectiles. "Bullets" are jacketed projectiles used by those who have not been enlighted by the silver stream. :)

I brought the target in to show accuracy. Both groups at the top of the target are this load. All groups are shot at 21'. Here is a link to a video that shows the lube on the target.
