My friend Bryan now has him a new reloading bench.
He out grew his smaller " Starter Bench ".

A very nice bench ! Currently, Bryan is loading 30-06, 308 Win., and 38 / 357 Mag.

He is doing some casting, improving with his shooting......making some VERY GOOD progress now !

We spent part of the morning transferring loading presses and powder measures from his old bench over to the new one.

He will stack his cast bullets on the bottom shelf to add stability to the whole bench when he is F/L resizing cases.

No sizer?
No mess?

I like his powder and primer supplies for a new guy. He must be getting sound advice from someone......

I do like how the scale is at eye level, and I am envious of all the powder selections.

Dont worry. I just reloaded a few .308s and it already looks alot more "broke in". I would like to thank Ben for all his help. I told him all of this was his fault anyway. lol. Thanks to all you guys for your helpful comments and encourgement. Bryan Morton

Russian Unique is a powder that is actually called Salute.

It is Russian and has a burn rate VERY close to our Unique. I find it to be a a very useful pistol propellant.

I bought it several yrs. ago.( Seems like I got it from High Tech ) for $9.40 a pound delivered to my door.

Nice! If I had the wall space, I'd do something similar.

Great bench I built the very same one about 20 years ago, it's very solid and heavy. Don't remember where I got the plans. Looks like you did a great job building.

Cant take the credit for building this one. My girlfriend had it built for my birthday. Think she's a keeper!

Looks like Bryan is a good carpenter, too. Bench looks well built. I'm currently using a bench built by my dad, but I added a top shelf where my powder scale is at eye level, and my powder dump is there, too. However, as the bench is used for other things, it is definitely not as well organized.

Love that Pacific Pistol Powder Measure. I've been chasing after one like it for about 6 months now. [smilie=2: Otherwise, the rest of the bench looks great.

Green Frog

We bought the Pacific pistol powder measure and 4 or 5 rotors all for $10 at the Birmingham Gun show about a year ago.

Good thing that you took a pic of the bench when it was new and uncluttered so you can show the pic later on to people to prove there is a bench top underneath all the stuff laying about on top! I built a powder stand out of copper pipe and fittings with a 7/8x14 nut braxed to an brass rod and soldered into the fitting on top of the stand. Painted it green and am still using it after many years. A sweet looking bench though, even if it is clean.Robert

Very nice! :) I have always had the best luck with bench stability by anchoring it to the wall with large "L" brackets... comes out solid as a rock.

Nice. A good, sturdy bench and proper tool placement for an efficent work flow is often over looked. I think you will likely want to slide the scale maybe 6" to the left so you can put a trickler close to the pan.

Your 'behind the press' placement for the measures will work well. You might be happier with the Uni-Flow set back another couple of inches for more knuckle clearance tho. And the nice offer for a free solid metal powder stand is great.

A half-width mid-level shelf between the bottom and top would be be nice. Once you start layering stuff it quickly gets harder to get to the lower stuff.

I too built the same bench probably in the late seventies, found the plans if some else wants to make one.

I build that bench in 1980. Got the plans from an ad in Handloader magazine . It has been great. Very nice design you will enjoy it.

That's a variation on the National Reloading Manufacturer's Association (NRMA) reloading bench, without the sliding doors. I've built several of these and they work great. Here's a link to a website that has the plans:

Keep shooting and not hoarding....

Give it time, it's still brand new! After a few reloading sessions it'll get to looking "normal" again! (Messy and "comfortable" ...)

I have the same bench, it's been great. I actually have two of them, one without the top hutch. That one holds my vise, drill press, bench grinder and casting equipment. You can never have enough bench space.

Enjoy the new bench! I thought I might have to bolt it to the wall back when I built the first one, but it is rock solid without that.

I use the similar bench, and had several presses mounted across it. However I found that things were getting in the way to reach everything behind, or just to use the bench to work on a firearm. I built my own mounting plates out of two layers of 3/4 inch plywood, and mounted my presses and tools on their own plates. Then I installed threaded inserts into one location on the bench, and built my own lock down handles (wood onto carriage bolts) and I can swap out the press I want. I made a small shelf unit to one side of the bench in unused space and installed the same inserts so each press or primer swaging tool can be stored out of the way, and I can have my entire bench top available for working on something.
