155 hard cast bullets were popular in USPSA before 38 super came along. They were SWCBB.
Sources for them just dried up. Johns Hard Cast Bullets in Melboure, FL made them back in the 90's. Don't know if the company is still around.

I load 140gr. cast lead balls in my 45 ACP. They shoot well with little recoil.

I use 165's they shoot quite accurately, I do gotta bump the load to function the 1911 though.

I have the discontinued Lee 155 SWC that looks like a HG 68 that had its front section shrunk in the wash. It shoots fine, but hits low from fixed sight 1911's, which doesn't help in endearing it to me. Accuracy falls off at the higher possible speeds.

We used to call them "thumbtacks". . . . . . never used any but others made
them work well enough for IPSC. Kinda look funny.

The thing with the 45 acp is you need enough bullet nose to keep the rounds from moving out of position in the mag and provide reliable feeding. When you get lighter than 200gr, there isn't alot of bearing surface left for the bullet. I've seen some 185 gr molds but not much lighter than that. A 200 gr load over 4.5 gr of bullseye is already fairly mild in the recoil department. You're simply not going to be able to get a 45 acp down to 38 target load recoil levels and still reliably opperate the slide with a factory spring.

Ive been using the Saeco #062 a 170 gr boolet for many years ! I orgionaly bought it to use in my compensated 45s before the 38 super became popular . it is accurate in every 45 acp ive tried it in and feeds reliably in most. it has the same COL@1.250 as there #068 200gr swc with the same bearing surface the 062 has a slimmer nose section, thats how they reduced the weight.
Saeco also makes a 160 gr mould a 063 , but when talking to a saeco rep when ordering my 8 cavity mould he told me that the 062 was more accurate than the the 063 .
From my tests the 062- 170 gr boolet is as accurate as the 068- 200 gr swc to at least 25 yards .

I acquired some 175 gr swc's, ought to be easy on the hands. Haven't loaded them yet.

I use the LEE 160 with great success. I love WST with this boolit.

I use the same Lee mold. It shoots great from my SAA and government models. With WWM they drop at 150 grains. From the Government model they have the same poi as Hornadays XTPs. DR

I use a 160 gr SWC that is made by Valiant Bullet Company. I use it for Bullseye matches, and it shoots quite well. I push it with 4.5 gr. of bullseye
and the recoil is less that a 200 gr swc with 3.9 gr of bullseye. It shoots well at 50 yard slow fire.

I think Missouri Bullets sells a 155.

I know a Bullseye shooter that uses the 155 gn. bullet in competition. It shoots very well for him and gets out of the barrel quicker than a 200 gn. IIRC the bullet he uses has the nose of a 68 H&G with a very short bearing surface. The pistol needs to be tuned for the bullet.

My Modified LEE 200gr SWC is now a H&G 68 clone. My go to boolit. currently shooting 4.2 grains Bullseye with fine accuracy.
I have loaded this as low as 3.8 gr of Bullseye.
