does anyone know the correct screw size for a Rem Rolling Block model 1901 , back sight screws?

Is this a factory taped hole or an add on sight?
Many older guns use nonstandard screws, ie, #7-32 and #10-28 in origional Sharps. Size 7 screws, taps and dies are hard to find, 10-24 & 10-32 are the National course and national fins standards. I have taps and dies for many of the oddball threads as it is much easier to just make a new screw than try to find a ready made with the right head diameter and thickness. Measure the ID and then a guess as to the size can be made.PM me if I can help further.

10x32 worked in mine.

I don't think I have seen any Military models drilled and tapped from the factory. Remington used odd sizes like some of the other gun companies.

Screw measure .190 so I am thinking 10-32 or 10-40?

I will look up the size tomorrow when I get to my books.

size maj dia pitch dia root dia
10-32 .190 .1694 .1494
12-24 .2160 .1889 .1619
12-32 .2160 .1957 .1754
3/16-32 .1875 .1672 .1469

I would guess it's a 12-32 if it is fitted tight.
Try a 10-32 and see how sloppy it is and go from there.

The 10-32 gives a little play til bottomed out. Would probably work with loctite applied. Will see if I can find a 12-32 to try. Not sure you carries that size
