Have gotten two LEE .454 RB molds, quality on these are just sad :-(
First one the top holes where cut jagged, did not cast with it, sent it back.
Just cast with the second one. from cutting the spue the top holes are now not round.
Also the balls are not round, the seems are off by a few thousands and the balls cast at .449 - .450

So who else makes a two cavity .454 RB mold ?
Thanks

Sharp Shooter will make you a custom mold. I like the Sharp Shooter Molds, very simple design.

He is not making any RB molds.
Says he is getting a lot of request though.

While I have not been happy with Lyman Boolit moulds of recent vintage, I have several Lyman round ball moulds that all cast well and slightly oversize. Most have been bought over the last two or three years.

Sharpshooter, definitely. I have 4 of his molds, and they all cast commercial quality round balls.

PS- and the price was right too!

Back in the 70's I got into black powder shooting pretty heavy. I just bought round ball molds for all my rifles and pistols made by RCBS. Those never gave me any problems. All the molds by Lyman gave me problems. Don't know what may have changed since then. Wish I still had the .36 round ball mold for use in a wrist rocket for the squirrels that keep getting in the attic in this house.

Have fun with this stuff.

There may be a custom buy through one of our custom mold makers, namely MH^2, for your choice of RB size coming up soon.

I use a Lyman SC roundball mould in .451 and one in .454 for my Civil War repro Cap & Ball shooting... got both on flea Bay priced pretty cheap and only wish they were DC. No problems whatsoever. Just my experience, YMMV!

I know RCBS at least used to make them because I've had one in double cavity for 20 years. I always thought it was an excellent mold.

Been using the same lee RB mold since last century.
Sounds like third world production has reared its nasty head once again

I believe Big Lube has them in stock.

They only make a 6 cavity and I only want a two cavity.

I sent the second LEE mold back to brownells and asked for a replacement.
This will be the third one, hope I luck out and get a good one this time.
