I can't say enough good about RCBS molds, every time I need to re-supply my boolit stock pile with a RCBS boolit it is a good day. They all seem to cast the same whether it is a rifle or handgun mold. Once they are pre-heated they just seem to run smooth and pile up the boolits. I have some custom molds also but as far as a factory mold in iron goes, it's always a pleasure to grab one and just make a pile. Now if we could only talk them into making 4 cavity molds we would be all set.

I love all my RCBS molds. Two cavity molds are not so bad for rifles, I'd own a lot more of their pistol molds if four cavity versions were available.

If it's just crud clean them with dishwashing detergent a nylon brush and hot water and then go to town casting. Make sure you pre-heat them to drive off any moisture.

I couldn't agree more. I would own a bunch less of other brands including some custom molds if only they would make 4 cavs.

RCBS is easily the highest quality off the shelf mold you can buy at any price. I have 20-25 RCBS molds and the worst one is a joy to cast with, just that pesky 2 cav thing.

Amen. If RCBS made 4 cavity moulds I would own MANY more of them. I love RCBS moulds.

I agree on the quality and user friendly mold that RCBS makes. They made up many of my start-up mould inventory and are among some of the most forgiving to learn how to cast with good results. They have made many consistent boolits that shoot well.

Maybe, BUT you don't have my super-duper home-made disposal expert badge and ID card...

may be true but you do not have my homemade certificate of authenticity
and that trumps everything else
so send em to me.. I'll clean em up cast a couple hundred rounds with each one
then issue a certificate of authenticity and then send them back to you

I started out with Lee two cavity then got my first RCBS, night and day difference. The RCBS is a pleasure to cast with.

Today is your lucky day.
I am Factory authorized and trained to service your mold. Send it to me with a Pre paid return lable and 30lbs of your alloy and in four to six weeks it will be returned almost good as new less the 2000-3000 Boolits it will take to test it's performance.

My #1 go to mold for the 45 ACP is the RCBS 45-201-SWC.
For ease of feeding in 1911's and overall accuracy this mold is my first choice. Sometimes I find a different mold that shoots tighter groups but usually not by much. If RCBS made a 4 cavity, I would have to find the money to get one.

I've got that mold and like it a lot, a longer nose than the 452460 that seems to feed better in unmodified 1911s.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is that aside from the best off the shelf mold made, RCBS has many outstanding bullet designs in both handgun and rifle molds. Several years ago I did a side by side accuracy testing of RCBS and SAECO in similar boolit designs with 7mm & 30 cal, the RCBS won out every time.

It's a real shame about that dang 2 cavity thing. 85640 I keep telling my self that someday they will see the light and make 4 cavs but . . .

4 cavity RCBS molds can be made using 2 molds and Lyman nut cracker handles and having a custom sprue plate made.

I recently saw an old advertisement in an old magazine that showed a 3 cavity Ohaus mold on the same blocks as RCBS uses for the 2 cavity. Ohaus was the predecessor to the RCBS molds IIRC. Even the addition of the additional cavity would be appreciated.
Right now I am casting the little 38-90-RN and need 2,000 of them.

I have that one too, a favorite. Another REALLY exceptional mold I have is the RCBS 38-140 CM. This is the most accurate boolit for me in all my 38/357's, more accurate than any WC I have ever tried.

I have that mould and if you think that bullet is accurate, you need to try the RCBS 9mm-147-fn part#82077. This one shoots extremely well in my 686. My gun seems to like lighter weight bullets.

+1 for RCBS
I own a few, and all are a joy to use.
Plus if you need it, (and I rarely do), their customer service is second to none.
