When temps are close to zero, and you're carrying a chunk of useless heavy metal in the dark, banging on your pack, stumbling over the picked cornfield, the idea of a G2 with a composite stock and a 24" 7-30 Waters barrel has a lot of seductive allure. I have seen my Dad put paid to some pretty good bucks with his 7-30 (and a 6.8 SPC as well) out to 250 yards. The only reason he hasn't done anything farther is that is he is will not shoot over the skyline...
I have some Nosler #28120 120 grain Ballistic Tips coming. These little puppies are good from 1800-3200 fps. The 120 shares the same jacket thickness as the 140 BT, and the 7-30 will kick them out 2600-2700. With a BC of .417, and zero'd 3" high at 100yds, it should be able to put paid out to 275 without too much allahu akbar! (elevate to 45 degrees, pull trigger...)

A friend who is not a reloader has one his daughter shoots. She has a cow elk and a couple of deer to her credit with factory ammo.

A most under appreciated cartridge and it will knock over silhouette rams @500 meters from a Contender 14"barrel. Winchester chambered some 94's in this cartridge and are rare.

The 120s are seated way out and still don't touch the rifling. Either the 120's ogive is fairly steep, OR the throat is rather long to accept heavier bullets.... Gun still shoots good.
