40S&W, 180FP & Unique

I have a friend coming down in a bit, trying to load some 180gn lfp and the only powder I have on hand for him is unique. I have loaded some jacketed for him in the past, but all that is available at the lgs is the 180gn pills. I have no data for the 40 and lead loads, anyone care to help? Thanks, Z.

Lyman No.4 Cast Bullet Handbook lists 4.6 to start, 5.2 max with 180 grain boolits. Those seem a little on the light side to me, since the Speer manual lists 6.0-6.7 grains Unique with 180 grn. JHPs. Alliant lists 6.1 Unique max for 180 grn lfp in their 2004 manual. I believe I'd load 5.2 grains and hope for the best.
