Due to safety concerns regarding the rising dangers of swage press OSHA may have to require Operating Permits and a tax to offset care needed for these concerns. The attached photo is a example of the dangers of un Permited Operator's

If you put enough safety devices on it to make it un useable, OSHA will be satisfied that it is safe to use.

Presses don't smash fingers.
People smash fingers.

You're supposed to swage the bullets, not your finger!

I've decapped the web between my thumb and finger twice over the years, so I know how that hurts!

I have an index finger that looks suspiciously enough like that to think we have the same die and press. At least make the same mistake........................................... ...

You need to be more careful in the future. Obamacare will not cover injuries associated with reloading.

Kind of like grabbing a hot Pyrex dish out of the oven with out a pot holder. You ony do it once and then become forever educated. Och.

I think you should probably divest yourself of that swage press before OSHA gets wind of it.

I have a permit to operate swage presses, so you could send it to my house and I will look after it for you while you get the required operator training and OSHA facility inspections and licensing formalities completed.

:)

Thank you Sir for your courageous concern for your fellow man, I will consider your bravery as I make my decision:!:

Blaster62;

It is good to see that you are recovering after the incident. I have never personally swaged a digit - knock on wood (as I wrap my noggin with my knuckles); but have slightly resized a digit when trying to make a single stage press operate at the speed of a Progressive Press while loading 9mm/.38/.45's; so I have empathy:

Empathy: Understanding what others are feeling because you have experienced it yourself or can put yourself in their shoes.

Sympathy: Acknowledging another person's emotional hardships and providing comfort and assurance.

As to the concept of OSHA and solutions, one can see the real results through the variety of Cartons created to reflect OSHA injection into an activity; such as the OSHA cowboy below. Note, to be funny or humorous - there has to be a grain (if not a ton) of truth to a humorous cartoon.

Did you put a stainless pin through it? With the rush to body piercings, you could start a whole new fad.

No disrespect taken, WE all have flaws some times it's good to laugh at ones goof ups, as for swelling & turning black bleeding was profuse no back pressure!

I dropped the handle on my RCBS LAM on my pointer finger fingernail with a very thin walled top punch and if punched a nice ring in my nail and squirted blood out the end. ONE TIME is all that will ever happen.

I tell my boy (5) when he does stuff like that. "Ya gotta be tough if yer gonna have that kind of fun"
