I just bought a Taurus 65 for a farm gun and house gun. Simple but effective can't wait to get it in my hands and shoot it being shipped from Ajax off this forum. What are your thoughts on this revolver. Thanks!

I have a 2.5" blue Taurus Mdl66 which is basically the same revolver as the 65 but with adjustable sights. I think it's a great truck, garage or tackle box gun, "6 for sure"!!. It's very well constructed and it points well for me with Hogue grips installed. I paid $186 brand new for it back in the good ole days (1993) so it's perfect for the role I use it in.

TC that is mine for pickup, farm and home use. I've had a couple of Taurus before and worked well and also had a few S&W k frames and worked well before I started a 1911 habit but S&W are out of my price range. Now just desire a simple revolver one reason is my wife hates auto loaders but she knows how to shoot revolvers (I have a 22 and a 44) and if needed she could and would defend the home with it but not so with a shell shucker. Plus I need surgery on my strong hand and weak hand can work a revolver better than a auto (no slide to rack). Thanks

I had a Taurus 85 (5-shot S&W36 clone) M65 (S&W 65 clone 3") M82 (S&W 38sp 3") that I bought during 1990-92. Never had a problem with any of them. During that time, they were built on older S&W machines that was left in SA when S&W had the contract down there. They did get dirty and grimy after about 100 rounds and needed to be cleaned. Blueing was really tough back then! Wished I had gotten the SS versions, but hind sight........

I have a UL850 now. I think its on par with my Ruger LCR. Would like to get a 357/38 in SS for a house weapon. But they seem to be suffering from demand right now, as is allot of gun makers. THey are putting out ALLOT of weapons quick. A co-worker bought 15 of Taurus' 40S&W 5-shots for his shop this summer. He had to send 9 back. Taurus did fix the problems, mostly timing and triggers. I don't hold it against them. The everyone that got one loves them! I was on his next "group buy" for a 5-shot 41mag or 44spc, but he couldn't get the newer/younger guys to come around and it was cancealed. :(

Being the one I'm getting has wood grips. I'm expect it to be older and hope bugs have been sorted out. 158gr swc with unique will be able to handle most jobs very well may look for hp mold for house work. Having trouble waiting feel like a kid at Christmas time.

I would take a pre-rush/manic panic one any day! :)

The Taurus 65 has been here but I had cold stopped me at first from shooting it, then carpal tunnel surgery. Using my weak hand and 38 spec loads was able to make a small frozen water bottle dance. This is exactly what I wanted. Land I hunt had a Mt Lion sighted and photo taken last week, hope I never need it but sure is more comforting than my 22lr.

I own a Taurus 65 (4" barrel) and I found that the Hogue grips are an improvement for me over the narrower stock rubber grips. I use a Lyman 358311 160gr RN bullet in 38 special cases to have a good time rolling Osage Oranges at 25 yards at my local range. My wife likes it as well. lightweight recoil with 4gr of Unique as well.
