If anyone here has a MEC 1 oz. charge bar could you get the diameter of the shot hole from it for me.

I need a 1 oz. bar and none seem to be available locally. I hate to pay shipping on just the bar if I have to order one in. I have a couple bigger bars, 1 5/8 & 1 3/4 oz that I no longer have a need for now that I can't use heavy loads of lead shot for waterfowl. I figure I can turn a bushing that will press into the existing shot cavity and then bore the right size hole in that. I can do it by trial and error but it would be a lot easier if I had the dimension of the hole.

Thanks in advance.

My tape measure reads 9/16s.

The shot hole on Mec bars is not a straight hole, it is a tapered hole. Some tool and die workers tried making a whole series of Mec bars out of aluminum bar stock. They actually were confused why the bars threw a heavier shot charge than a factory Mec bar did. Finally they discovered the hole was tapered.Robert

I have a 1 1/8 in my desk drawerr for the same reason. it's gonna be a 7/8. My 1 1/8 measures .635 with small hole gage. Planning for .542 for 7/8 but that is an estimate.hope this narrows it down some.

My MEC 1 oz. bar measures .595 top and bottom. My 11/16 bar measures .500 top and bottom. They are NOT tapered, at least mine are NOT.

It looks like I'll be boring a .595" hole. Thank you to all who replied.

Are you looking for a single stage or progressive?

FWIW, I just shimmed one of mine with a plastic shim made from a plastic shotgun shell to reduce the amount of shot it threw. Regards, Woody

Are the adjustable powder/shot bars still made. They used to be available for Texan and Mec loaders.

They are still made, but the quality looks questionable from the reviews. I considered getting one of these, but went with the real thing instead.

Mine is the 600 Jr. single stage.

I have an older 3/4 oz. bar you can have if you want to just bore it out without making a bushing. It does not have the rubber insert. If you want it PM your address and I'll send it to you.
