I got a milled follower for my 1903 Springfield Mark I... (made 1918)... IT wouldn't fit at all... Spend half the day filing it down, but then realized the trigger guard may be wrong, I havent seen one like this.. The issue is the follower gets stuck on the back ridge by where the stripper goes in, and at the front there is a "V" beveled cut on it... When I tried to cycle soft point 150 grainers they get caught under the feedramp on the barrel, you can feel a edge there vs a smooth transition... This causes the rounds to come up nose down and not feed even though I worked the follower down more.. Any help on identifying this would be welcomed.

This is the photo link for the follower and the trigger guard.

I believe the mark 1 used the Pederson devise. Possible the trigger guard is different.

I don't see any reference to that. It is the Pederson cut Mark I however I can't find documentation on a different model of trigger guard, or on the fact that a normal 1903 milled follower will not work in it... I don't know if I got a bad follower but it was supposed to be mil spec and it looks correct just did not fit (still had cosmolene on it too) I am trying to reduce the variables and come up with a solution.

the mark 1 and the standard 03 used the same trigger guard and internal parts when set up to fire 30-06 ammo.

do you have an 03 follower and not a 1917 ?

The issue for everyone's personal knowledge was that I actually had a M1922 Trigger Guard in there....they are identical except for the step and the "V" which was entirely what was causing my problem...so now I am looking for a trigger guard from a 1903 if anyone has one for sale!

Could be that 1922 guard would be worth several times what a replacement 03 guard will cost you.

You have discovered there is a big difference on the internal configuration of a rifle magazine designed to fire the 30-06 round (1903) and a rifle designed to fire the 22 Long rifle round (1922). Not even close to the same.

A friend who visits this board occasionally built up his own .22 conversion on a 03A3 receiver in rder to build a sub caliber 03A4 replica. It turned out great. Not sure if he used M1922 parts but I think that's what he did. An excellent piece of workmanship. I think the 03A3 he used was a drill rifle, not suitable for reactivation to fire full power .30 cartridges.
