My soon to be incarcerated nephew "borrowed" my large steel melting pot. Yada, yada, yada.
So, IS a porcelain pot SAFE for smelting lead ?
I know it's thin and won't hold heat very well, and I've checked it with a magnet, so I know it's a ferrous alloy, just don't want any failures with 250 + Lbs. of molten lead alloy

no!!!!
Too much heat will cause the porcelain to pop causing the tinsel fairy to visit you.
