There must be a HEAP of cheap .223/5.56 being sold in my neck of the woods right now as in the last 6 months I would have picked up at least 500 cases at my range most of which are boxer primed. I have more .223 brass than I know what to do with but my frugal/non wasting nature will not allow me to leave the brass on the range. I can't keep up with the case prep in the evenings.

Mostly good head stamps too like FC, FNB and LC.

The other day I picked up 3 stripper clips for 8X57 that someone had been shooting. The boxes were Egyptian marked. Thing is you can't get stripper clips much here other than .303 British (can't hardly give them away) yet someone binned these.

I guess not everyone is as 'thrifty' as me ah?

Around here, even the .22 rimfire has been snatched up. Scrap metals prices are driving a hoard of scroungers.

I went to the range today. The only piece of reloadable brass that I found was a S&B 7.62 x 25mm; upon seeing it I realized that I only thought 7.62x39 had ashort neck.

Sounds like the consolidated gunclubs to me.
Been told the brass is a foot deep around the firing lines, that right?

www.ammobrasstrader.com has lot's of guys asking for .223 and other brass.

You can sell a flat rate box full of it for around $50 pretty easy. Be a way to finance a new gun, or loading press if you're interested.

Don't know what to tell you about NZ. Might be guys looking from over there that would contact you too.

I've had two 5 gal buckets full, traded six boxes of them for brass I needed. Am now down to a bucket full loaded, and two gallons ready to process after the last two trips out have refilled it. I shoot them by the thousands in summer at p/dog's.

Value of brass for scrap nowdays would pay well to gather it up.

Little brass is left on the ranges here in SoCal making it tough on reloader's. It is being scrounged and sold to scrap dealers and going to China.

I collect all the brass I can from our little local range; mostly handgun cases.

At home I sort into reloadable and scrap. I have two 20 litre buckets (about 5 gal) out in the shed which I am filling with scrap. The reloadable gets sorted, cleaned/deprimed and packed away.

Now and again someone comes looking for some brass; always handy.

With this and the salvaged lead, it is the ultimate in recycling.

John.

Cheers, Gents! Just took a 5 gallon pail to the recyclers. Forty-two pounds worth. seventy-five dollars and change. Now the club managers say they will slap hands and spank butts after the first of the year, if they see brass pluckers. I guess I'll have to go after dark, under the headlights of my car.

I go when the Coast Guard and PD has their bi-annuals there; lots of 5.56 and 7.62x51. I even pick up berdan primed brass and reload them.

Hmm, can't find any .223 out here, that's the only one I am short of...
