I've been drinking cider vineger and honey for a while. I think it's helping me. Less gout attacks.
I happened to tell a fiend of mine who is diabetic. He is in bad shape.
He started drinking it three times a day as I do.
The first week his blood suger went from over 400 down to 100.
He started eating bad things and it went back up.
It's now been about a month. He's been watching what he's eating.
He has been able to cut his insulen use down by 1/3.
He said he dosen't feel any different, but he knows he's doing better because he's using less insulen.
He excited and happy. Even sleeping better.
Seems to be helping him.
Anyone else drink this concoction?????

I remember 30 yrs ago, a man kept hammering away at me about the virtues of drinking one glass of vinegar cider a day. Said it was just about a cure all,end all.

Course, being a young buck, I ignored the ramblings of an old man!

I tried vinegar for helping control heartburn with no luck.I do believe that vinegar is good for you though.
Honey is my #1 go to cure all concoction. It makes just about everything taste better and can be stored forever.

Cider vinegar helps when I have heartburn. Maybe it's just the taste????
The honey makes it easier to take.

I use warm or hot water in a small glass.
1 tablespoon of each.
Mix it up and drink it down.

It's suppose to help with high blood pressure.
It seems to help with my gout. Haven't had an attack in over a year.

For heartburn try about a 4" piece of raw celery!

In my martial arts days we used to make our own concoction to drink instead of Gator Aid. We'd heat two quarts of water on the stove, and add 1/2 cup of honey to it, and stir to combine. Then we'd let it cool, and then add 1/4 cup of cider vinegar. We'd keep the results in a pitcher in the fridge. Before class we'd put some ice in a 1 qt thermos and fill it up. We felt invincible in those day. This had to be the reason.

An 8oz glass of water, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, sweeten to taste with LOCALLY grown honey--in my case 3 tablespoons. Completely cured my fall allergies. Store bought honey won't work as most of it comes from China, besides is filtered and pastuerized, kills all the stuff that might help you. Locally grown honey is made from the same things that are triggering bad things in your body. As an old doctor told me, some home remedies work but we don't know medically why they do. Oh, vinegar is also supposed to be good for your blood pressure. GW

As with Goatwhiskers, I only eat locally produced honey. I believe that it has helped immensely with my allergies. Used to be, I would be sick 2 or 3 times a year--now, none. Can't prove it, don't care to. Vinegar and Honey are good daily for a variety of things. I was always amazed at the Roman Legions--seems their daily drink, while on the move, was watered down "spoiled wine." That's vinegar. When Christ was on the Cross, and the centurion offered him some drink from his bottle or canteen, it says, "he was not refreshed." It was watered down vinegar. But the point to me, was that that guy offered to share with a condemned, dying man. He could "feel" for him, in my eyes. As a young man, working in construction, one of the things we did to kill thirst was squeeze a lemon into our mouth. Vinegar works the same way. That's why the Romans used the "spoiled wine and water" trick. All the recipes listed before my post are good, IMHO.

All of the above posts about diluting vinegar in water are wise. A dentist told me that he had a client who enjoyed vinegar so much he would drink it straight out of the bottle. The vinegar stripped all of the enamel off his teeth, and they rotted away. Use caution with stuff. Side thought, I wonder if it would remove paint spills around a project? Just wondering....

Don't know about paint spills, but white vinegar will remove the epoxy you got on your fingers during a repair job. Also good for spills, will clean out the cup you used to mix in if you need to reuse it. Of course, if you rub baby oil on you hands before the stuff won't stick to your skin anyway. Guess this is sort of a hi-jack, I'll shut up. GW

It is also a good window cleaner.
I worked for a Ford dealer in the 1950s and a weak solution of vinegar and water was the preferred window cleaner because it did not leave a film.

Viniger is a great cleaner. I will try it for heartburn. Meanwhile I can attest that a big liberal dose of honey and lemon with 3 fingers for warm whiskey will cure any cough you have and help you get a good nights sleep!

Vinegar is good to have in the shop. As was mentioned, it cleans up epoxy. Handy when working with Acraglas and Acragel.

I use cider vinegar on my salad every night. On coumadin so I have to keep my intake of greens even. Salad is about the easiest way to do so.

Equal parts, distilled white vinegar, 90 % isopropyl alcohol makes an effective ear wash. This was recommended by a ear nose and throat specialist.

This is a great way for watersports enthusiasts to keep ear infections and fungal growth in check. Comes from having your head immersed in water especially if its river, lake or untreated.

Acetic acid kills any fungi and the alcohol absorbs any water present, and aids in fast drying time.

I only use cider vinegar to drink.
I'm not sure about white vinegar.
White vinegar is way stronger than cider.

I use the Windex with white vinegar for a BP solvent, may have to keep some cider vinegar around for medicinal purposes. May even get to making pickles again someday.

I had an older lady who was raised in the Glades that suffered from mild respiratory distress taught me this recipe:
Gertie Hafiger's morning tea
Cup of hot tea
Tbsp cider vinegar
Tbsp raw bee honey
Tsp lemon juice

She usually used Lipton tea except in the fall when she used sassafras. It was served really hot. You would inhale steam if you weren't used to it. Works good if you have a slight allergy.

Yeah, the white is way stronger can't hardly drink it, major use is for canning, and household disinfectant.

Guess I'll get back on my tonic. Friend just brought me a gallon bucket of fresh honey. Found enough jars to put it up, sopped up what was left in the bucket with a piece of bread. Mmmm, good. GW

I drink only organic cider vinegar.
Cook with cheap cider vinegar.
Don't really use much white vinegar.

Saw my friend last night.
He's down to less than 1/3 insulin from before.
Said he's feeling like he has more energy.
He also told me that he noticed that coffee now keeps him up at nights. It never did before.
Side effect of better health?????
I'm glad for him.
