I picked up some range lead and race car weights a couple of weeks ago. After melting them down into ingots I tested the ingots with artist pencils. The race car weights test about 8bhn and the range lead is about 10bhn. I picked up 10lbs of linotype lead that tests about 22bhn. How much of the linotype should I add to get up to about 12bhn. I tried to find a lead alloy calculator but I couldn't find anything that would work. I had considered water quenching the range lead and wondered if that would get me close enough without adding anything. I appreciate any help. From now on I am going to stick to wheel weights if I can and use them as is but I have 63 lbs of range lead and 50lbs of race car lead so I need to use it.

For each pound of 8BHN add 0.5 pounds of lino (calc'ed for 20BHN to account for spacers etc).
Based on lino having 4% tin, you'll wind up with 1.3% mixed. Add 0.16 ounces of 100% tin to get 2% total.

For each pound of 10BHN add 0.2 pounds of lino (calc'ed for 20BHN to account for spacers etc).
You'll wind up with 0.8% tin. Add 0.24 ounces of 100% tin to get 2% total.

I find 3-1 lead/lino gives a bullet near 12BHN. Depending on the range scrap, water dropping can get you there too.

Pretty close to my experience.
