Going to take these to the range and test them out , 300 gn. Lyman 429650 SWC GC boolit , useing Titegroup at 7.5 gns. . Should be around 900 to 1000 FPS and yes I will take the crono with me to check them . :)

5240

If it checks out good it might make a nice backup to the 444 Marlin or fly solo and just get the work done by it's self . hehe

What ya think ?

Instead of 44-40 loads, step those suckers up with a good load of 296. :Fire:

I was going to try Blue Dot next :) Then maybe some Lil'Gun . Don't have any 296 on hand to try :(

Well them 7.5 gn. loads sucked , they were running in the 1000FPS range and were 6 inches or better at 25 yds. Back to the drawing board . LOL

Loves Lee 310 and 18.5 2400.

Best 50 yard group the gun has ever shot.

OK...OK, 44man , I tried some 296 and they did well at 25yds off the bag for me , going to up the charge a tad to see it the group gets tighter. Will also be trying some H110 and Lil'Gun also . So far I like it , a little zip to it but manageable . :)

I use tite group in a .41 with the jbullets. I was using 7gr with a 210 jhp for around 1100fps. They were fairly accurate. Switching to cast, the groups went way south. Titegroup and cast in bigbore revolvers don't seem to mix.

I would be interested in how the lil gun works. I have a lb and haven't really given it a work out. Might have to wander out to the garage and do some thunking.

Keith, I use 21.5 gr's of 296 with the Lee 310 and the LBT 320 boolits. I also use the Federal 150 primer. Magnum primers make the groups 3X larger. I have never had accuracy with a mag primer in the .44 or .45. Might be OK if it is super cold out. I have tested primers in the .44 since 1956 and the standard primer is better.
TC, I was shooting beer cans at 200 yd's with my load out of my SRH.

Did up some more for the 44 with 296 , shot about the same , also did some H110 and Lil'Gun and all 3 loads hit at POA , the H110 and Lil'Gun where at start loads do there is room to play with them also , so my assessment is that those 3 powders will give me alot to try out here in the near future as rifle deer season starts Thursday here and I'll have the 44 with me just incase I decide to use it instead of the 444 or 45-70 :) .
