View Full Version : Help ID Strange 9mm casing.

A friend on mine found the following 9 mm casing with plastic insert heavily crimped to the brass on a police range that also allows the public to shoot. I have never seen anything like this before. We are curious as to what these were used for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He found about 6 of these.

The head stamp reads IVI 9 mm 09. A loaded 9mm round is included in the picture for scale.

Well, since I'm the first one to see your post, I'll give you an answer from a previous post about these rounds...... They're Simunition training rounds.

Yup, Simmuntion FX rounds. Like paintball, but with real guns. Simmunitions make for excellent training scenarios.

... and the IVI headstamp stands for "Industries Valcartier Inc." which are manufactured in Valcartier, Quebec, Canada ...

So.....reloadable???...boxer primed?...projectile? I think I've got some of those lying around...

I found a few of those at our range. I kept them and added 'em to my "shelf of cartridges".
