has anyone tried hodgdon's CFE223 in any cast loading?

I'm think about .223 rem and .243win

i'm wondering if it works in reduced loads at cast boolit speeds.

I am interested also, I have not previously used CFE223. Not seeing much powder at stores that is tailored to the .223 (although CFE223 may be too hot/fast for .224 cast boolits). There was one gun shop that I was in last week that had dozens of 1lb cans of CFE223.

I have only used it in solid copper bullets, cant say I have tried reducing it. I would use a filler with it.

Use it in my .22-250 with Hornady 60 gr. VMax about a half grain under the max load that Hodgdon lists and it stays well under an inch with occassional one-holers at 100 yards. Shot a .49 inch group for 3 shots at 200 yards last week. Like it a lot. Doesn't seem to do as well with lighter bullets such as the 40 gr Sierra HP and Hdy VMax.

I am wanting to shoot cast with it as well but need it to come back in stock in my area. I have used it with copper bullets and it shoots very clean. Also is easy to clean out the bore when using it at least thats the way it seemed for me when using it. Id buy it by the 8lb jug if I could find it to burn up about 4k of bullets I have sitting around now....

It works good using heavier 69 grain Sierra Match Kings. Not so well with the lighter 52 gr. versions. I do not have a clue using cast.

Just picked up a pound of it over the weekend. The LGS had it in 8 lb jugs too. Don't know when I'll get to try some loads with it since next month I'm going in for a knee replacement.

I've only used it with Jwords in my 223 and 22-250. It burns clean and meters well so no complaints here. I've never used it for cast boolits.
