Being one of the new guys I tend to have questions that may seem stupid to some of You "old casters".
That being said: Is it OK to tumble lube cast boolits with deeper wax grooves like Lyman? Or will it only work on Lee TL molds designed for alox lubing?
Thanks Mark

Works with the regular grooves. That's what most of my moulds cast.

I've tumble lubed quite a few 30 cal and 8mm bullets with regular grease grooves and shot many up to about 1700fps with no problem.

Lyman 31141 in the 7.5x55 Swiss and 30-06 and the Lee 329205 in the 8x58RD.
My starting loads were around 1300 fps with light charges of 2400 or Unique and there was no noticeable leading after 40 rounds fired, even at the heaviest loads around 1700-1800fps.
The 30s shot about 1" at 50 yards and the 8mms around 1-1/2".

I press the gas checks on the 30s, lube them and shoot them unsized as cast. The 8mm get run through the Lee .329" sizer and then tumble lubed.

I watched someone tumble lube bullets once. It turned me off of ever trying it. What a stickey mess! I did try lubing TL style bullets in my star though. It worked and they shot well, but they sure wern't pretty!
