Near as I can tell the bore slugs .3575 (5 groove bore) and the cylinder throats .3584 for one and .3583 on the other 5. So would sizing to .358 be big enough for the bore cause I can't push .359's into the cylinder easily? I'll be at the range tomorrow!

That gun's no good--there's a hole in the barrel! Better let me take it off your hands before any of your costly bullets fall out.
But seriously, good for you. I would like very much to have one of those.

For the utility of a working gun the combination of a 3" barrel, fixed sights and stainless steel is hard to beat.
Other than the sharp edges on the hammer, barrel shroud and trigger guard; the gun was fine right out of the box. But I wanted to make a good gun great so I tweaked it a little.
You can't see it in the picture but I dehorned the hammer spur (one could shave with that thing!). I polished some of critical areas of the lockwork, replaced the mainspring and trigger return spring with slightly reduced power Wolfe springs and shimmed the hammer, double action sear and trigger.
It now has one of the best double action triggers I've ever had. The engineering and materials that Ruger put into the GP sets the Rugers apart from the other designs. IMHO, In the realm of revolvers the GP-100 rules. :Fire:

Yea, size using .358 sizer. Boolits will spring back larger to .3585 usually...lead boolits will expand when fired also. I like those rubber grips.

Looks good. They used to sell that model with a 3 piece compact grip, it used the same size grip panels as the SP101.

Here's mine. Not the short barrel, but it is mucho fun to hit stuff at the longer distances.

Didn't make it to the range this weekend :groner: hopefully next!
I like pictures, nice guns guys! Thanks for the reply Detox.
I want this to be my wife's "go to" gun so will change out springs, do some very lite stoning and need to find a grip without the finger grooves. Will the grips with the inserts fit this model?

.358" should be perfect.
Mine is a 4" adjustable, but I love the look of the 3" fixed sight model.

Bzcraig - you can get the shims and springs here - http://triggershims.com/
They're good folks and it's one stop shopping.
Any of the GP-100 grips will work, including the ones with the inserts. Your current factory Houge grip is retained by a screw in the base and a sheet metal clip/nut inside that must be removed to return to the old style grip. It's a 10 second job and you can switch back at any time.
I don't remember which spring set I used but I think it was only slightly lower weights than the factory springs and the gun is 100% reliable.

That is a Simmons ProHunter 2-6x32. Got it from Amazon.
So far so good, with about 100 rounds of full house 357's fired so far with it mounted.

The base is a Weigand no drill and tap. Very easy to install. Also from Amazon.
