Anyone have any idea what the difference between the Lee #10 and #20 thermostat could be?????
Two different part numbers. #10-90093, #20-EL3466.
Pictures look the same, but probably means nothing.

Well, first it's not a 'thermostat'. It's an 'infinite control'.
It doesn't read heat directly, it reads how much wattage has flowed through it in a given amount of time.

Since the 10# pot has a different heating element wattage rating than the 20# it has to have a different control.

There is no visible difference between them except for the part number.

It's listed as a "thermostat" so, to avoid confusion, that's what I called it.
I always thought thermostat was the wrong name for it, but that's what Lee calls it.
I would have named it a "temperature control". That's what it dose.

I was thinking the #20 would be rated for higher amperage. I would think they would put heating coils that would get hotter because of the bigger pot.
I guess you could just adjust the screw to keep the coils on longer.
They do both look the same, but I just don't know.

Thanks for the info.

Do you need a new one? I've got an extra for a 20# pot I'd let you have it at a great price! PM me.

Don't need one.
I have a RCBS pot that I'm trying to fix for a friend.
Thought of trying a cheaper Lee thermostat insted of getting the one from RCBS.
Decided to go with the RCBS one.
Thank anyway.

Probably the power rating, and I think it IS a thermostat, NOT a
power controller.

Well, you are wrong. suprise, suprise.

It might be under warranty, call RCBS and ask.

If I had to spend what a good thermostat like RCBS costs, I would buy a PID instead.

I went PID and it changed my life!

LOL!

A THERMOSTAT - is a switch, controlled by a bimetal switch that opens and closes based
on the temperature.

If you want to say an "infinite controller" means the same thing - have fun. An infinitely
variable power controller is something different, in my experience - it is an electronic device
that will adjust the power in infinitely small incriments, which typically takes a complex
solid state power controller - which I know is NOT available for the low bucks that a Lee pot costs.

So - define your terms any way you want, but communcations is difficult if you use obsure
definitions. Thermostat has meant a bimetal strip controlled thermal switching system for
over a century.

And using Wikipedia as a reliable source is BS in the extreme. ANYBODY can make or edit
a page - the results are OFTEN correct but FAR from reliable and conclusive.

I stand by Thermostat and question the oddball definition of "infinite controller" - where we have
had a perfectly good term for a LONG time.

Wrong! The Bi-Metal Switch in the Lee is heated by the electricity flowing through it. It acts more like a Buzzer than a thermostat. Any effect on the switch by the heat from the pot is Secondary to the heat it gets from the resistor (heater) on the switch. Infinite control just like an electric range.
