I stopped in one of my favorite gun shops in Birmingham at mid day today. I saw this one NIB, I thought that the price was reasonable , so I brought this one home with me today.

It should be a good platform to shoot my 358156 HP's out of.

Nice! I have one in .327. I really want a 6" .357 to go with it.

Hey, Ben, have you ever been to Barber Motorsports Museum?

Nice! I've been wanting to get a ss gp-100 357 as an understudy to my 480 SRH. I still can't decide between the 4" and 6" barrel length, just might have to get one of each.

Hey Ben, What does that thing weigh? I'm toying with the idea of buying another 6 inch .357 to replace a Model 19 of years past and was looking for something that would balance like my k-22.

Slug your bore.My son has one and the bore dia is .356 I am going to size the bullets .357 If I size .358 the loaded rounds wont seat in the cylinder. The cylinder on his is tight. I believe .357 will work fine.

I traded into this 1

& after owning 31 GPs I absolutely will own this 1 until I leave this world , it shoots where I look (especially when wearing glasses) everything I`ve pointed it at has died , 4 copperheads & 2 possums (1 running in the flood lite & 20 steps away)it points as fast as any I`ve held !!

I`ve owned many Stainless from 3" to 6" but this 1 is the extension of my arm !
Not purty ,has some freckles ,but works & works well !!

12.5 gr. of 2400 under a NOE 358429 sparked with a reg. primer has me callin my shots again !!(with prescription glasses)

Nice GP !! ENJOY !!!!

BE SAFE !!

Yep ! Mr. Keith knew what it took to make lead boolits work in revolvers !!

I`ve found the the beefier & full dia. front band boolits work over `bout any reasonable load , from low&slow, to MAX magnum.

This is my NOE 358429 thru a 358 Star die:

If I feel I need heavier I turn to a NOE 360-180, these are really hard to get to shoot bad !
At least in my GPs , these in solid form PB dress out at 187 gr.

You just can't go wrong with the GP. In my opinion, it represents the pinnacle of revolver design.

GP100 Man, what's the weight of the 358429 design?

theperfessor
10-24-2013, 10:41 AM
It's been listed by Lyman as 168 and 170 grs. Mine come out at about 173-175 with straight WWs. YMMV.

GP100man

My NOE 358429 drops with my isotope alloy with a little tin added ,20 averaged 177.3 gr +/- .8 gr.

That`s useing a 5 cavity mold.

My early Lyman single cavity drops (with same alloy)a 173 pill.

Both of these are lubed boolits.

Nice score Ben mine is SS 6'' barrel loves 158gr Swc full underlug like yours. With 357 load standing with open sights it kills clay pigeons at 120 yrds on the hill at the club.

I just bought a gp 100 a few weeks ago and the quality of the double action / single action was perfect. First gun that I wont touch! no spring jobs, very well made. must have had a old timer gave it a good once over, very happy. I always was a S&W guy, but after that trigger lock, I gave Ruger that second look and sold me a great 3" model !

Mine had 3 cylinders a .355 bullet would not pass through. A better solution is to ream out the cylinders to .358. A couple of us ordered the kit from Brownells. Easy to do at home and accuracy improves immediately. Rugers are great guns to be sure but they do need to be finished. As a friend of mine said they are great kit guns.

Love my GP-100, works great in IDPA SSR Division.

Take Care

A stainless 6" GP-100 was the first handgun I ever bought back in 1990 and I still own it today. It is truly a workhorse and will serve you well for years and years. Enjoy!

GP100 man, those grip inserts look great with the blued gun.
What are they?

Well they`re not as yellow lookin as much as in the pic , but I got em from Chigsgrips.com.

He only makes GP/SRH & SP panels, A bit thicker than factory (they feel better to me) palm filling.

He`s hooked up with a custom engraver now & can get stuff engraved at a reasonable price!

He has a couple pair now with 357 at the top & Ruger emblem at the bottom $38.00 !!

Tell em I sent ya !
