Hi guys,
I have a new manf (2011) 8 lb keg of 2400. It has some flakes of what appears to be herco or unique and some sticks like 4198 but I suspect it is just uncut 2400 that missed the cut process. I talked to a friend and he found some **** in his too. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this? Thanks

I've burned through 2 and working on a third keg since 2003 or so. All mine has looked like that. Shoots so good I hope it never changes! :)

Had a pound like that about 4 years ago. Finished it off and bought a new pound. New pound looked normal. I could not tell the difference between the two.

It seems to work just like the old stuff I had in blue and grey can with similar velocities. The contamination is very minimal though.

A friend swept up all his spillings and put them in a can marked " Peruvian Blue Flake ". He said it was hard to get good loading data as the mix changed every so often. Let's hope 2400 isn't changing, It was my second pound of powder, bought in 1963.

I've burned almost 14, 8 pound kegs manufactured in the last 5 years and have seen nothing strange but I've been buying 24 pounds at a time to limit lot to lot variation.

What is the Lot Number?

Since I started recording I've had Lots 757 758 760 and 771

Sept 24, 2011 As far as I know lot numbers go back to Hercules

2400 is produced several times a year. Could be the equipment processing the raw nitrocellulose kernels didn't get cleaned. As I understand it most of the processing is to control the burn.

I started keeping track due to variations in burn speed and energy.

Thanks for adding to the info.
