I shot this buck today with my 6.5x55 swede. Huge body, pretty old deer.I had to cut him in half and carry him out on my back. The biggest white tail I have killed so far.Jumped him out of his bed at 30 yards and got him on the run.Good day!

Very nice buck. What kind of rifle is that? I picked up a nicely sporterized Swedish Mauser a year or so back because it was too good a deal to pass up and I already had dies. Haven't worked with it much yet.

Its Tikka T3 hunter.Kindve tough to find them now a days, I am not sure if they are importing that caliber still. I shoot a 125 grain partition with a max load of varget.Kills whatever I hit with it, doesnt matter if its deer or elk.

Thanks JW! I am going to be sore tommorow. Getting too old to be packing stuff out on my back like that lol

Nice buck!

Taking a buck by still hunting and jumping him from his bed is the ultimate in my book. I've never hunted whitetail, but have always wanted to. I applied for a Montana whitetail tag, but never did draw one. I intended to take my 6.5 Swede. Reading about your hunt makes me just a little envious, but not too much I hope.

excellent.
question, since it's a white-tail and it's in the west is it scored as a 3x4 making it an eastern 12 point or is it still a 7 pointer or a 3x3 with a kicker or just how does this work?

I would say it is a 3x3.I usually do not include the eyeguards. Unless of course he is a 2x2 with eyeguards makin him legal in a 3 point or better unit lol!

The one and only eye-guard, if, over an inch, would make it a 3x4 around here. Very nice young buck that will be great eating this winter. Good job horsesoldier. JW

Great job with a superb caliber, the 6.5 Swede is very under rated by the main stream, guys in the know understand how good it really is. Nice deer & write up. I love hunting whitetails, make a trip to Montana every year, absolutely love it!
