I just began loading for 45 Colt using Star Line brass. Found a Hornady shell holder designated for this round (#32) and it has the most slop of any shell holder I have used. Can anyone tell me which brand fits the Star Line brass the best? Thanks.

Alan,

I have to check my Hornady shellholder when I get home. I do case forming on 454 Casull brass and don't recall slop per se.

I do have just about every brand of shellholder and use Starline if they make the brass.

Take care

I've had the best luck with RCBS. A Redding or two were too tight with some brands of brass. Lightman

Just got a Lyman and it is a much better fit than the Hornady.

RCBS in my experience. I also found horn addy products to have a lot of slop in them.

I have used my Lee shell holders with complete success. From the above results, it sounds like what you are experiencing is a standard manufacturing fluke that made it into the world. If you like one manufacturer above the others, use their gear as it's pretty much all quality stuff.
