I've been useing it in 44mag & 357mag for at least 15 yrs and I'm pretty sure the old midway brass was made by starline I've got some of that over 20 yrs old. I'de say its tough to beat it.

When I buy, that's what I get.

For the record, I inherited a bunch of random brass, and one case was headstamped "Midway", so October 12, 2005 I e-mailed them and asked who made it. They said that there was a limited run in the 1980's with the Midway headstamp and it was made by Starline.

I've had great success with it, and if You order from starine.com they flat rate box it to You.(at least they did last year) You might have to buy 500 pcs but You can alway find someone to take some extra off Your hands.

Wonderful brass, maybe a little thicker than others, but very good overall.

If I buy new pistol brass, it is almost always Starline. (Unless I get some outragious deal on something else) I don't know of any better brass out there.
I don't know of anyone that has used Starline brass and not liked it.

I use it in my 45/90 and have had no problems. Seems very uniform too.

I have Starline brass for my 45-90 and 50-70 rifles. It is the most uniform brass I've ever used, but, at least in the large rifle cases, it is very hard and needed to be annealed before I could get decent accuracy with my blackpowder rifles. Still, it is all I use for these rifles and I doubt anyone else makes better brass.

Much the same finding's for me with Star Line brass.

what I have found and FWIW

2 issues with Star line brass thought.

1. If you worked the load with some other brass (Rem, WW etc) You better rework the load in the Star Line - there is less case capicity. I worked a load for my 45/70 with WW and the Hornady 350FP J-boolit. A friend tried to load the same load in his Star Line brass - it would not fit. He reworked the load and was 5 grains under my load and that is all the powder that would fit!

2. For BP loads (or low presuure with white powder) you have to anneal the brass to get your accuracy - 3 to 4 inch difference between annealed and not annealed groups.

About the only brass that holds up for a long time in .32-20 and in .32 magnum, about the only game in town. Couldn't imagine any brass being better.

I'm just getting back into reloading & casting after a long dry spell so lotsa things have changed. As a result, I research (mostly here on the net) new products that I may not have heard of or used. Starline was the subject of one of my "researches" and although I've never used it personally, all of the comments about it that I've seen are positive, just like those here.

Have bought 3 different lots of star-linr .32 mag brass. All 3 lots suffer from body splits. This last lot is better, but still,I loose alot of it to body splits. E-mailed star-line about it awhile ago, and they said maybe i ought to bake it in oven for x-amount of time @ x-amount of degrees. Dont care to do this. It is a anneal problem that should be fixed at the factory, not in the ol ladies oven!

Hi maniac,

When did you get your brass? I heard about Federal cases all doing that at first but have been lucky enough not to have experienced that. I would be worried about annealing an entire case too! I have been reloading the same lot over & over.

I have lost a few of the .32-20 cases to case mouth splits but none of the .32 mags. I got did that. I bought 100 about 4 years ago and another 200 2 years ago.

The Winchester & Remington .32-20's will be lucky to see 3 loadings.

Does your gun do this with any other brands of brass?

I have several lots of federals, and some of them body-split also. But a couple of lots are very nice, multiple high pressure loads with no problems. Ive bought the star-line brass in the last 2-3 years or so. With the .32 mag, if you cant find federal, your stuck with starline it seems,,, Now with .357, its a different story! Exellent brass, with no problems.

I use the Starline brass in 32-20, 357Mag, 44Mag, 45Colt, and 32 H&R Mag.....a friend told the same thing about Federal 32 H&R Mag cases splitting and suggested that I use only Starline for it, unfortunately I haven't shot the 32 enough yet to tell if there's a problem or not.

this is common in 32 mags. my bro in law has a NEF pistol that does about 1 in 6.
my pistol does it with both federal and starline. might be something with the round and flame cutting
but once the split ones are weeded out, the remaining ones dont seem to split (as often)

Nope. Never. They suck at answering the damned phone, too. I wish they had an answering machine, so I could tell them, "I love, use, and recommend your product. I'll start buying it again when you start answering th damn phone or start answering e-mails. This is piss poor service."

I have used .45acp starline and .38 Special starline brass since the company first started making it and have had nothing but excellent results with it. Now I am beginning to venture into the .41 magnum and the .45AR and .357 magnum areas. Does it look like I am changing over? The only real problem is the fact that others are finding out our little secret and now it is not always easy to find Starline.

To date I've used .45/70, .45 Colt and .44 Mag without a problem, all in hot loads. The stuff is awesome.

I've got some .44 Special and .30 Luger inbound now. I tkink I'm safe in assuming the quality will still be top notch.

I'll order some 10mm from them as soon as I can find a 10mm Glock for the right price.

Slightly OT, but, since the question has been asked and answered, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed .38 and .357 cases being more prone to splitting than others? It seems that every time I shoot my .357 Blackhawk, I get one or two split cases out of a hundred or two.

I bought 2000 45-70 cses from them, the quality is much better than the 2,500 Winchester 45-70 cases I bought earlier. Had a serious issue with the depth of the primer pocket in the winchester cases, they were too shallow, bent and distorted cases were real common with the winchesters, some to the point that they could not be saved. All so the case length of the Winchesters were too long and varied, making it difficult to get a uniform crimp. I had to use a primer uniformer and trim all the Winchester cases.
The Starline brass was extremely uniform in length, and were at the trim to length. Primer pockets were well with-in tolerances and of the 2000 cases only two had small dings at the neck.
I use them in a Gatling Gun. And if I have my choice, I will never buy Winchester again, Starline quality is impressive. And the best part, they are $ 100 cheaper per 1000 than the Winchester. Starline sells direct, and the prices are good.

All I've tried Starline in so far is my wife's .45-70 BC. I did that to keep our brass seperate. I was already using Winchester. The Starline is heavier and has less case capacity. It also varies more in weight than the Winchester, probably not enough variation though to be a problem unless you're doing super accuracy testing. So far we haven't been able to see any difference in case life or durability but we are using low loads so it isn't being tested much. I think it's good stuff.
