Picked up a Remington R12CS at auction, .22 Remington Special caliber, which as you may know is same as .22 WRF. It has a Lyman R12 tang sight. The knurled portion of the sight staff is too tight to loosen by hand, even with a dollop of liquid wrench on it. I have not seen a drawing or schematic of this sight, and before I start forcing anything, I would like to know how it is supposed to work. Can anyone help with this? I started looking on the net, finding a picture of the sight here http://www.gunauction.com/buy/10565018/gunsights/receiver-sights/rare-lyman-r12-tang-receiver-peep-for-remington-12
and still don't see why it should be seized up so tight.
The rifle is shown here: oops, they took it down. I'll try to get a picture.
