Just recieved my first (definitely not last ) NOE mould. Also this is my first aluminum mould and i have to say, i may never use anything but al from now on. This thing is awesome for pouring perfect looking boolits and in a hurry too.
Once the sprue plate got hot enough you could just barely tap it and the sprues would just explode off it
and the boolits just fall out on their on or with a light tap on the handle bolt.

This one has 2 cavities and is the 360-200gr fngc and i bought it after having trouble with my RCBS.
First time a RCBS ever gave me any trouble at all so i'm definitely not knocking them, but after adjusting it to get it to close properly then lapping it to get the dia. i wanted i got frustrated and ordered the NOE.
Wish i knew how to do pic's cause the boolits definitely fall out picture perfect.

Now i have two moulds basically the same so i have a question. I'm thinking of turning the RCBS into a flat base. Question is do i drill the the gas check area out and make a soup can style base, or would it be better to mill that area down to the first band for a more conventional style flat base?
In other words what are the pro's and con's of each style?
BTW did i mention i like the NOE?

I would sell the RCBS mold and buy a NOE mold in the style you want. Theres a good chance you might mess up the mold if you not used to machining metal. you iron mold should bring good money. Ive got 6 NOE molds 4 and 5 cavitys. Im sure there will be more in the future. Good luck!

colt1960 i'm definitely not a machinist this is something i would let someone that knows what they are doing handle for me. I would love to have a flat base mould for my whelen but like you said it may be better to just sell it and buy one. Lol the problem with that is i worked so hard on it to finally get it pouring like i wanted, i hate to let it go.

BTW learned how to adjust and lap a mould right here at Cast Boolits forums....awesome!! Love this place!!

Shot the NOE'S in my 35 whelen today, so i'll post the results.
26 grains imr4759 2- 5 shot groups....958 and .945" @ 100 yards
33 grains imr4759 2- 5 shot groups .857 and 1.511" but 1st 4 in .942"(old man can't squeeze the trigger right every time)

Eric at hollow point moulds says he can drill the old RCBS out to a flatbase and recut the bands like i want them so i guess i'll go that route with my old mould.

Thanks....35 shooter

Are either of the moulds bore riders or no?

GP100man,

Nice looking work from Buckshot. Good looking mould from NOE, and nice pile of boolits.

If I'm looking for mold and NOE has it? He has my business for certain. I've had nothing but everything I've expected and more from his molds, they are my 'go to' molds from now on.

Thanks for the replies fellows. Definitely looks like Buckshot did a good job for you GP100man. I'll consider that for sure, thanks for the tip. Love my NOE.
