I just ordered a 300 grain Accurate mould for my .375 H&H. I plan on loading these to approximately 1900 to 2000 fps. What powder would work best? I have had good luck with the Lyman 375449 and 40 grains of 5744 but I don't like the exposed lube grooves.

4895 will easily get you there. It can easily get to 2200 fps with reasonable pressures.

As would IMR 4064 and more recently I've worked with Varget.

I'm using about 31 grs of 4759 in mine right now. 315 gr HPGC modified Lyman mold. Ug, kickem harse! Shootum straight. Charge could be increased, not sure of velocity, probly 2000 fps range. Next guess would be 3031 (good accuracy).

Lefteye--Are you using a filler with that load? What have you found to work with 3031? I'm not having very good luck with cast with my 375 H&H is the reason I ask, and I really would like to shoot it more. Thanks.

A case full of IMR7383 works great in mine with 300gr. grease groove bullets. Haven't chronographed it yet but it seems to be in the 2000 fps neighborhood.

I have several lbs. of 3031 on hand. How much y'all using and does it need a filler?

Anybody with an answer for this one? I would also like to know. Thanks.

An answer? Many have been give already, what more are you after?

Guys say they shoot 3031--they just don't say how much. I have a couple of pounds of 3031 and don't have the other powders mentioned.

Start with loads from your manual that get 2000 fps or so. You may be able to reduce them some if you use a Dacron tuft to keep the powder against the primer.

Much of this isn't cookbook, we are often flying by the seat of our pants.

Never have used 3031, can't say much more about it.

I would start in the 45 gr of 4895 range with filler and work up slowly til I get the velocity I wanted.

I used to run 21 grains of Blue Dot behind a 270 grain Hoch slug in my 375 H&H

I haven't tried 3031 yet myself. My thinking is that 2000 fps. is a mild load for .375 H&H. As such 3031 shouldn't present any problems with base and engraving deformation due to fast rise in pressures/ ie. kicking the boolit in da butt to hard. Sierra used to accuracy check all of their bullets with 3031. An all around powder useable in most rifles, and an accuracy standard. So, it should burn nice and uniform, being on the faster side, at these reduced pressures too and help accuracy. Almost nothing fills that case, so probly still use dacron to hold powder where it needs to be.
