Any of you know who made Tradewinds scopes? I bought three scopes at a local auction last year and one was a 1 1/2X4 made in West Germany. My guess in the 50's or 60's vintage. I can't find any reference to who made them in any old catalogs. With all the surface scratches on it, all the bidders ignored it. The Tasco & old Weaver K-4 didn't seem to pick anyones interest, so they came home with me for $15.00. The tradewinds has some of the best optics I've ever seen, especially for an older one like this. I mounted it on my 257 Roberts Ruger #1 for hunting last fall. It's a bit short so I needed two offset rings to get it mounted properly...Geo

IIRC... Tradwinds was an importer back in the 60's. They imported a version of the Huskvarna rifles and also some scopes. They delt in "plane Jane" versions of high quality European goods.

I remember a Tradewinds Inc. rifle from the mid 70's that was a Krico (Kriegeskorte at the time) out of Ulm Germany. I'm not sure who built the scopes for them but the rifle were well built for the time. Tradewinds started importing the rifles in 1968 so I'm guessing it came in after that. There is a Krico rifle on Guns America with a similar scope. http://www.gunsamerica.com/976938755/Guns/Rifles/TU-Misc-Rifles/429L_KRICO_MODEL_603_BOLT_243.htm

That's the scope alright. The outline looks like one of those high end imports that are still being offered. ...Geo
