Anyone out there have some good data on .38 speer shotshell capsules????powder recommendations, payload, etc.??

Will the capsule hold a round ball? I'm thinking about one round ball inside the capsule....or perhaps two, if the inside measurement is known. Thanks....

It would work. Not sure how useful/practical. Might work better with over-cards.

Speers Manual # 14 (page 880) lists the same as jmortimer shows for their #13 manual so it hasn't changed.

I have a box of the capsule and plan on loading some up to have for snakes and other critters but since I'm just starting to reload - haven't done it yet. I plan on using the smallest shot that I have on hand when I do.

Just as an afterthought - Speers #14 also lists a COAL that they tested as 1.500"

I bought a 5# bag of #12 shot years ago and put it in an old Unique square can. Still have some left. Snakes are thin skinned and the shot count in #12s is impressive. The round ball idea sounds OK but I just load .375 balls sized to .358 with a lube cookie between them. I have also loaded some 00 buck that was squashed in a sizer to make .358 discs. Again with a lube cookie between. Worked well at short ranges but not really much use on a daily basis. Now if I could find some #11 or #12s that are nickel plated..........

Load data is included on a card inside the box with the shot capsules nowdays.
