This is what is necked down to make the 6.8 SP that the military is fooling around with in the M-16. It seems to me that just leaving it .30 caliber and loading it with 125 or 130 grain bullets would have made a better gun.

I wonder if the 6.8 brass would stretch out to 32 Rem length?

I believe the 6.8 brass is shortened 25/30/32 Rem brass. Have a 30 Rem and dies, 25 Rem dies.Will probably have to leave So. Cal. to find a 25 or 32 Rem. Just have to convince mama. Bret , if 6.8 can be lengthened please post. I haven't found any yet. From memory official dimensions were somewhat shorter.

My friend needs some 32 Rem and he can use the 30 Rem and resize, thanks.
They want $64.00 for the 32 Remington resized from the parent case :roll:

I doubt it. The parent cartridge for the 6.8mm Rem SPC is the old .30 Remington, which is essentially a rimless .30-30. Left to right: .30 Remington, 6.8mm Rem SPC, .308 Winchester, .223 Remington.

The 30 Rem. can be necked down to 25 Rem or up to 32 Rem. Lately, I have been making a few 25 Rem from 30-30 brass. Time consuming but satisfying. Emery

Even the old 25 Remington would have been a better choice for the Army than Curtis LeMay's watermelon busting .223.

The problem with military standardization is that it becomes more difficult to change things when they have been in the system so long.

I am amazed the Britts gave up on the Brown Bess.

I just got my shipment of 30 Remington cases from Grf's. It is PMC make and seems to be good brass.

BY THE WAY, for anyone using the .223 and splitting cases trying to fire form to 5.45 x 39

The 30 Remington is what Buffalo cuts down, turns the rim, and reforms to the 5.45 X 39 that is used in the AK74.

I made a customer .30 Rem. brass several years ago, when they weren't available. I chucked a .30-30 sizing die(after removing the decapping rod) in my lathe as a tapered socket, and removed the rim and cut an extractor groove in one operation using a 3/8" square tool bit I'd ground as a form tool.
This method of holding cartridge cases is described in Brownells "Gunsmith Kinks 4" under my real name, on pgs. 403-404.

www.huntingtons.com (As in Fred Huntington) has Remington .30 Rem cases fo $31.20/100, $73.60/250, and $138.80/500. No .25 Rem. and I didn't bother looking for .32 Rem. as it's long obsolete and easy to use .30 Rem.
