Today I was shooting my Rossi 92' Stainless, 357 Mag. I reached for the rifle and felt a " sting " in my left hand.

The sharp corner of the rear sight sliced my hand open like a razor blade.

The cut bled quite a bit. Once I got the blood stopped, I said to myself :

"I bet that when I get home I'll take care of this problem."

I did ! !

It certainly looks better with rounded corners. I think I'll round mine off.

It is a matter of " taste " and getting the blood stopped.

I'm glad mine has been rounded, my hand is still fairly sore this morning.

OUCH. I am getting ready to go shoot the same model later this afternoon, you bet I will be looking at the edges and probably doing the same modification.

My 92 didn't come with that style of rear sight. Mine has a buckhorn style rear sight.

Sorry to hear of the injury, just glad mine came through with the rounded sight. Not to hi-jack the thread, but has anyone considered using a tang mounted peep sight like the old Marble or Lyman? Since my rifle shoot high (seems to be a generic trait) I've been giving some serious thought to making a change. The best deal I've found so far is the one put out y the Hawken Shop for just under $100. Any comments, advice, opinions, etc will be appreciated. BTW I prefer the tang sight to the one that Steves Gunz puts out that mounts on the bolt. Nothing wrong with it, just me being contrary. Thx, Stan

Dorf; I'm sure the Hawkin Shop sight is a dandy. Early on I couldn't afford $100. for a sight. Not when there were other optioins available.
Taurus made a nice tang sight for there .22 Pump. A very close copy of the Marbles , adjustable both windage and elevation. The price was about 1/3 of the Marbles. I found mine at Brownells. Purchased several. They fit all my levers, Rossi, winchester, Marlin.
Sometimes D & T are required, but it is usually required for any model sight. Just an idea for those on a tight budget.

PePe Ray, Thx for trhe info. Been peekin' at the Taurus item. I just may have to get one. The Idea of saving a few $$ really appeals to my Ex-Pat Mainiac soul. :-) Stan BTW how's the bird hunting this fall around the Jackman/Upper Enchanted area? Inq

I was firing my 45Colt last week on vacation and using 8gr Unique under a 260gr boolit. Got the groups down to a half dollar at 25yrds or so and was happy but the front sight fell off! I will echo some of the people on here in that i had to take the rear sight elevation out of the gun to get it to point of aim. I also felt that the rear sight blade would have been better rounded instead of pointy like that.

I like these. Have one on my Rossi 357.

If I were to look up the definition of "understatement" in some dictionaries I'm pretty sure I'd see something similar.... :D

Mine had a buckhorn sight as well. So no razor like edges.

I have bled more on/over my Rossi 92 than all the guns I have ever owned combined.

Took a while, but I finally detected all the burrs and sharp edges and removed them.

I have a cheap 2x pistol scope on my 92 and a Williams Foolproof as well - original rear sight is in the parts box.
The foolproof was an economical option since I bought one "new/old stock" from an auction site for a Remington 740 and modified it to fit the Rossi.
Very easy to do for the flat-sided receiver and it looks like it was made for it.

I've looked at those in the past. How quick are they as opposed to the v notch sight?
