Any suggestions on an easy way to slug a muzzle loader's bore? I have never done mine just adjusted patch thickness till I got a ball patch combination that shot good. I got a new flintlock and thought I would like to slug it before I buy molds.

Put a short piece of brass rod that slides easily into the bore first, then add slug. The brass rod is then used to bump out the ball by turning barrel over and allowing brass rod to impact ball.

make sure that you use pure soft lead. Otherwise you will have a problem getting it out!

The way I've done it before is get the barrel clean and dry, load a mild powder charge, then load a hollow point lead boolit as normal. Then, I use my ramrod mounted bullet worm to remove the boolit and measure. If for some reason you can't extract the boolit just shoot it out and try again. That reminds me, I need to slug the bore of my NEF Huntsman.
