Remember that one time you went hunting and left the firing pin at home? It's been awhile and I just wanted to remind you.

Have fun gents!!

I've forget some key ingredients before. Now when my fishing buddy gets in the truck before we start he starts in with a check list. He says that he's doing it for me but I wonder if more like your friend Love Life! Sparing with a friend what could more fun?

Isn't he building a rifle for you? Wonder if the firing pin will be a bit short to reach the primer.......

Good point. I was just kidding. I take it back!!

I've goofed before. Like the time I went to range without my scope. I switch a scope around on a couple rifles, and I opened the rifle bag and no scope was inside. I did the walk of shame as I packed up all my gear and headed to the truck.

I've gone to the range with a bunch of different rifles only to find that I forgot to bring even ONE magazine for one of the rifles I wanted to test shoot. Transformed it into a single-shot as I had to insert each round into the chamber by hand after each shot. Annoying.

How about planning a range day with several friends, making plans to shoot several different guns and having the truck all packed the night before, and leaving the ammo can on the garage floor before driving the hour to the range......

So, if Goodsteel makes my firing pin short, does that mean I can't shoot cans of Dinty Moore beef stew at 1,000 yards?

I did the show up with no ammo thing one time, but it was only a few miles back to the house. Not as bad as my buddy that showed up with rifles and ammo but no bolts. He lived a lot farther away.

Naw. That just means I can load 175 gr high BC bullets in the .243. They don't exist, but lets not argue semantics!!

Thanks Richard.
But I fixed that problem once and for all. This year, I'm hunting with an M1A scout.

BTW, are you sure you sent me a Kreiger barrel? This one I'm putting on your rifle says "Green Mountain" and it's .45 caliber. What's up with that?

It wasn't me!!

Please choose one of the following excuses:
A) I'm generation Y and not accountable for my actions
B) I stood a 24 hour duty so now I'm rinning on hour 26 with no sleep
C) I was hacked
D) The NSA did it
E) Somebody else made me do it

On the plus side I have heard green mountain makes a very good barrel. Does that mean I'm getting a 45 acp bolt action back?

Don't be silly. It just so happens, I know where to get a reamer in .46 Long rim fire.
Don't worry about that bolt none. I know how to fix it to where it will function perfectly with that awesome cartridge. Not only that, but with a 26" barrel, you will be able achieve amazing speeds with that cartridge, pushing pretty close to 850fps!

Oh, I forgot to tell you! I found a guy locally that can dip coat your rifle with custom camo. He said he has one that is hot pink skulls, and since I care so much about you as a customer, I'll cover that for you, no charge.

Be sure to send it before I get the rest of the gun diped in fuzzy pink skull camo so it will all match up OK?

Interesting concept...

First, let me know how many steps it takes to go from .308 to .244...

Then I want to know what powder you find slow enough...

Fuzzy pink skull camo keeps me from having to stick moleskin on the cheekpiece for our wonderful subzero mornings.

I'll use Hornady 1 shot to size them down in one step. I'm thinking surplus cannon powder. 1 kernel will fill the case to capacity.

LOL!
I'm not that cold!
Just for the record, I intend your rifle to be the most accurate I have built up to this point. I even made design modifications to my fixturing in order to eke out a few more ten thousandths of an inch of run-out. If the darn thing doesn't shoot, it's not going to be for lack of precision chambering. I am satisfied with how I have it set up now.

I'm heading to the woods tomorrow, and I hope I get something, because I may not be able to break away again this season. Looks like I may be hunting in the rain. Now, if I can just remember to bring that darn magazine with me......LOL!
Maybe this is why single shots are so popular?

Never left a fifle at the range, but I did leave a shotgun leaning against a tree in the squirrel woods once. I didn't notice it till I started to go hunting again the next day. lol

When I was about 12 or so, I left my shotgun leaning against the fence. Finally noticed something was wrong a few hundred yards away when I flushed a pheasant.(QUOTE=starmac;2424151]Never left a fifle at the range, but I did leave a shotgun leaning against a tree in the squirrel woods once. I have some 55 grainers to play with. I am seriously concerned about shredding them though. They are Nosler BT, and I have heard they can withstand the velocity, but I don't know if they can hang with the 1 in 7.5 twist. So I plan to send 87 gr VMAX bullets screaming down range to cause hydrostatic disruption to things!!

And yes, I'm hiking this rifle around. I spent a tour as a M29 SAW gunner. I humped that weapon system plus the 75 lb full combat load all over the place. I can hang with the 14 lb monster and a small pack of snacky cakes.

Well I left my 870 in the grass next to the road where I was cleaning birds a few years back after hunting grouse on our place and had to go back and get it... I was lucky it was on our own place and after dark by then! Had totally forgotten the incident by now till I read this thread.

Either way, so far in this thread I haven't heard of anybody pulling one worse than that SS agent that left her weapon on the back of the toilet awhile back!

Not with that rifle.

I bet Tim is above that sort of shenanigans. For now.

I have gone to the range without ammo before. It sucked watching my FIL shoot while I sat there.

I drove the 110 miles to a friends and realized I left my M14 mag's at home
- went to Local Gunshop and they had "M14" mags
- I bought one then went back to his house and tried to fit it into the rifle
- you could force it if you tried hard enough
- Taiwan make or was it Korean
- either way not Mil-spec.

Yep, went to the range once with my 1911. Had lots of ammo, ready to shoot. Dang it, magazines were still at home!

Dug some range scrap, packed up, and went home. Sigh

Seem to recall an alphabet agent left an issued Sig duty weapon at a local PD range several years back, never turned up. Hell, I was happy to pick up all the unfired ammo they left lying around! Didn't know they were leaving guns.
